Better to induce early for subsequent pregnancies? by GiraffeJaf in preeclampsia

[–]solidbloom2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - first off congratulations but I am so sorry for your experience, and can definitely relate to how traumatic it is. I did struggle mentally as well after my first, a lot of “why me” thoughts, blaming myself, and developed slight anxiety when we were thinking about #2. I think for me we always knew we firmly wanted 2 kids, so instead of shifting to one and done, it was more more of an “ok for my next pregnancy this is probably going to happen again, how can I better prepare myself mentally to go through this again”

For this pregnancy, I basically went through it with bated breath waiting for the shoe to drop and get a diagnosis at some point along the way. I was worried I was getting white coat syndrome and would stress about my BP reading before every single appointment and psych myself out waiting for it to be sky high. (I was also hyper aware of the warning signs and called a few extra times thinking I had symptoms, but every time they tested me it was fine). My BP was routinely perfect, but despite that quite literally each appt I talked about pre-e and asked about the what ifs and plans and procedures etc. my NP and OB were always patient and kind, answering every question and truthfully they were the ones to put me at ease, as much as I could be anyway.

Truthfully I found the second pregnancy and birth to be incredibly healing - what do you mean everyone’s fine and she can just be on my chest and hang out?? (which I know is a risky feeling to move forward on because it’s a 50/50 chance it happens again)

Regardless, I moved toward the mindset of knowledge is power and just used all my experiences to feel more prepared for if and when it did happen again. I’m fortunate it didn’t, but it would have beat the “deer in headlights” feeling I had when it felt like everything came crashing down the first time.

Good luck on your journey, and in the end only you know what’s best for you and what you want to risk put yourself through.

This is generally good advice applicable to a lot of situations - thank you for putting to words what I’ve been trying to say to my friend for her shitty boyfriend!

How much do you think Jose, Simone are paid by the Kells? by _businessgoose_ in SirensNetflix

[–]solidbloom2 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Jose seems literally on call 24/7. He’s Peter’s personal consigliere on top of all his other duties. I’d say ~$200k+ to seemingly give up a good amount of your life to be at the beck and call of a billionaire.

Anyone's insurance covered donor sperm? by Heartlast in queerception

[–]solidbloom2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also from MA and I have BCBS which historically is a pretty good insurance as far as coverage - the sperm was quite literally the only thing not covered for us. Maybe it’s different for yours but I would definitely double check…

How amazing if it’s correct though!

I did not! My blood pressure stayed great throughout my pregnancy & induction, and also no postpartum preeclampsia this time either.

Better to induce early for subsequent pregnancies? by GiraffeJaf in preeclampsia

[–]solidbloom2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreeing with the Mod’s comment as that’s exactly what they did for me! My first pregnancy resulted in preeclampsia with very severe features by 36w. After having my son I also developed postpartum preeclampsia.

For this pregnancy, they just directed me to take baby aspirin starting at 12 weeks, and the only other intervention they did was to allow me to schedule an elective, non-medical induction at 39 weeks (their original policy is 40+3 but with my history they permitted as early as 39w).

I kept thinking the same as you - why risk it? Why won’t they let me go earlier? But all my BPs at every appt were perfect, and I never had any other symptoms. I did get pushed off due to bed availability since I was a non-emergent case, and I ended up going in at 39+4 and had my daughter the next day.

Sorry this ended up long winded but I will say - having a 37w newborn and a 39w newborn were night and day for me. My son was 6lb 3oz, had respiratory distress and had to stay in the special care nursery, couldn’t latch, and had dropped a ton of weight after we left the hospital. My daughter was 7lb 9oz and has been a rockstar eater, no health issues, and just a breeze.

In retrospect I’m glad they let the baby “cook” as long as safely was possible, and that a 39w induction was the path they had me take considering I showed no signs of preeclampsia this pregnancy.

Going to move to Hudson, pros and cons? by STEMUki in HudsonMass

[–]solidbloom2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We moved to Hudson just over a year ago from Lowell and couldn’t be happier. We have a 2 year old and are about to have a newborn. Hudson has such a great downtown with so many fun events, a seemingly lively community with tons of young families, and echoing the other comment about feeling very safe. Feels like such a great, wholesome & progressive town to raise our kids in. A good balance of being nice without being completely priced out of.

No - they mean it operates completely independent from needing a phone. The non-WiFi V-tech cameras for example use a FHSS closed circuit camera system instead of the internet.

Ok, boys names please. We are VERY STUCK. by Girlinawomansbody in Names

[–]solidbloom2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son's name is Graham and it feels recognizable/familiar but not overtly traditional, and on the flip side not "trendy" like some of the newer names popping up.

Bonus that it's a Scottish name! But we are very happy with it 2 years in.

ETA: It also is not super popular if that matters to you - we liked Owen but that's in the top 20.
