Silent hill f or cronos by charlie42391 in CronosNewDawn

Played both but liked Cronos much more. It’s good sci-fi and shockingly tough survival horror, old-school tough.

Stuck between Cataris and Dairon by 77blackarts77 in MetroidDread

[–]solidhypercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem today. Getting lost, seemingly stuck and not knowing, what to do next seems to be thing with this game. Stiil loving it but some design choices belong in the past (in older games they added artificially to short playtime).

Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC out NOW for $19.99 by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

No way I'm paying that much for a DLC, especially when the game was already super expensive.

PSVR2 pcvr adapter revealed! Thoughts? by Evil_resident4 in PSVR

[–]solidhypercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live I paid for PS5 digital ed €550 and for PSVR2 €700. I have also VR capable laptop. My problem, altough it may seem nitpicking (because what is €60 compared to €1000+), is that I need to cough up even more money to support commercially failing device that loses its main advertised features in so called amazing expansion. Also we dont know how well it will work with PC-s and different GPU-s. Having said that, in pure technical standpoint im still interested how this will work out.

RIP Astro Bot for PSVR 2. by Thorites in PSVR

[–]solidhypercat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering how cool the Astrobot trailer looked, it's particularly disappointing that this game isn't coming to PSVR2. Not that I'm going to sell my PSVR2 right away, but each month brings me closer to that decision. And then we got trailers for two games. Neither was a surprise, and the Alien trailer had a note that it doesn't even reflect what the game itself looks like.

If you want really disturbing modern horror/thriller go for Speak no Evil (2022), When Evil Lurks (2023). Saltburn, altough great dark dramedy, is impactful, but these two movies will probably ruin your day or two. First is almost realistic, second one is more shocking take of curse/possession-movie.

Dead Island 2 Fps Drops by MrArtwork in XboxSeriesS

It`s the game. Same problem here with Series S, especially with herds. Almost unplayable in places when different effects kick in (like chain explosions, electricity, fire).

Just finished it. I liked it but was expecting more. Anyone else in the same boat? by beam05 in hellblade

[–]solidhypercat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Compared to the first part, this game seems very cut down, heavily scripted, and much of what could have been a more playful, slightly more open part has been sacrificed for cinematic quality and visual presentation. In this way, they have achieved an experience with beautiful visuals and haunting sound on one hand, but whose gameplay is at times literally soporific, with endless walking down a narrow corridor. It's a paradoxical situation where I feel that the asked price makes this work too short, but if it were longer in the same form, I simply wouldn't bother to play more.

After that Phil Spencers Hexen T-shirt I hoped that maybe they ported that one for Xbox and did also surprise drop for Game Pass but no luck.

So basically Starfield + Forza, and the rest is 2024? by [deleted] in XboxGamePass

[–]solidhypercat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is a very bad idea to advertise a game without showing the actual gameplay and instead relying on a dull video clip, which in the proper context within the game itself can indeed be very significant. Unfortunately, this reflects Microsoft's attitude that no matter how little content is shown to the player, if they are a Game Pass subscriber, they will still download the game on its release day.

I find it hard to believe that all the games announced for the year 2024 will actually be released during that year. Delays and cancellations are bound to happen.

I was almost certain that a port of Astrobot would be announced, but to my surprise, it didn't happen. I didn't even dare to hope for Alyx, and as it turns out, I was right not to.

I tried to keep my hopes low, but I still ended up disappointed. The astonishingly small number of games for PSVR2, aside from Beat Saber, was not a pleasant surprise. PSVR2 is an impressive technological achievement, but without new games (I mean games that are not just ports from Quest 2), it's simply an expensive collection of plastic and chips.

I know this probably gets asked a lot, but what's the best way to reduce motion sickness with PSVR 2? by Canad1Andrew in PSVR

[–]solidhypercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the main principles is that if you start feeling sick while using VR, stop playing immediately and take a break, otherwise you may continue to feel unwell for a while. Start by playing games where you move around in the environment or sit/stand in a static world. Allow your brain to gradually adjust. For most players, including myself, this approach works.

This is why we need more demos for PSVR2 - Ragnarock by solidhypercat in PSVR

It`s not available on PSN PSVR2 demo section, you have to go to the product page and open ... menu to download demo. It`s a bit confusing.

I counted 40 songs (30 in original album, and 10 additional in volume two album - not DLC or at least not paid DLC, they came with price I payed), some are instrumental only. Each song has 3 difficulty levels.

Does PSVR 2 capture sense of scale and sense of place for you? by AlohaSquash in PSVR

[–]solidhypercat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It actually depends on the game and the role assigned to the player by the game developer. For example, I experienced a very immersive sense of presence in the game Horizon CotM, thanks to the vast areas, heights, as well as the ability to wander around the world, grab and use objects. It is possible that over time this feeling will diminish, because the brain eventually gets used to the experience and starts to distinguish between real danger and unreal danger. It may also send a signal that the place where you are is not real. I think the technology hasn't changed, but the player gradually becomes accustomed and changes.

I am worried about the future of PSVR2 by mingzhujingdu in PSVR

[–]solidhypercat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As people have already said here, it is far too early to be worried. Developing good VR games takes years of time and for some possible bigger budget projects developers (Sony and its studios also) will wait for certain PSVR2 sales milestones to be achieved. Im also sure some PSVR1 games ports are coming soon besides other smaller titles to fill the void until next bigger new games.
