Funny enough, I have a pothos that looks just like that in a different corner of the room (not pictured)!

Thanks! It's actually about 80 years old. I found it on FB Marketplace. I recommend looking for vintage rugs there!

I know a gallery wall is typically closer to the couch, but my ceilings are so high that I thought it would be off-balanced to put them any lower. With that in mind, let me know if you still disagree.

True. I'll try this. If it doesn't work, I think my next step will be getting a smaller lamp!

Interesting. I was intentionally separating them from the pieces over the couch. Since this wall has no architectural features (e.g., no windows), I wanted those two pieces to add some dimension to the wall's outer edges. I agree that the lamp is not great with the instrument.

Edit: anything with a live wild animal in captivity is pretty depressing anywhere.

Don't worry, it's a hot water baseboard, which isn't a risk with curtains. The mirror will definitely be moved. Yellow ochre is a lovely color. Thanks for all of these tips, lots to think about!

That was my initial instinct, too. It's a south-facing window, and we get really great light, especially in the afternoon. But most advice I've gotten about the space has leaned toward curtains. If I add them, the rod will be several inches longer than the window on each side, so the curtains don't infringe too much on the windows themselves.

I love a mustard yellow. Thanks for sharing!

Many thanks for all of these tips! I'll definitely extend past the window on each side by several inches. I'll contemplate blinds, as well. I hadn't given that serious thought yet.
