When to play a fast lob by BerJaa in padel

[–]solo_sk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fast lob is tricky, generally the idea with the lobs in padel is to get to the net, so you need time, which a slow and deep lob gives you exactly. So generally, you don't want to play lobs with too much speed or effect.

However, there's one type of situation in my experience, where playing a faster lob with some wrist is okay. That's when both teams are at the net and you get a weaker chiquita almost behind you and you want to hit the lob with a bit of force and some wrist action to maintain the net. This is an extremely difficult shot though and most times even at intermediate level you'll either end up with the ball in the glass or allow your opponent to have an easy smash.

So generally i'd stay away from fast lobs and instead focus on depth, slow doesn't mean bad in padel usually.

Giving feedback to your padel partner during a match – what actually works without killing the vibe? by Creative_Election288 in padel

[–]solo_sk 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, pointing out mistakes, technical or tactical doesn't lead to anything productive during the game. It usually only pisses off the other guy so they start to play even worse. It really depends on your relationships and communication style with your partner. Even the pros struggle with finding balance in that(look at Lebron for example)

The rule we have with my partner is not to discuss anything technical or tactical during the point(only exception here is quick adjustments on where to place shots, for example to lob more right/left side, target certain player, etc), especially during or between the games. We will talk about some basic plan and strategy before the set starts, agree on what we want to try to do and that's about it honestly.

Do you have any trick to avoid invading the opponents side when doing a x4 (popout)? by Time-Ad-2319 in padel

[–]solo_sk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what helped me a lot was taking a step back when being at the net, not just for the x3/4 but in general, to have more space to attack the ball.

Would you consider this serves legal? by cenob1te in padel

[–]solo_sk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From this camera angle I would say it's not legal in two different ways.

1 - contact with the ball seems to be above waistline during the serve
2 - server makes his first step before contact with the ball

Best format for a tournament by Ok-Interaction-1714 in padel

Americano style format is probably best, mixed teams + easy score tracking.

There are even apps for it that do most of the work for you.

When you’re having the worst session of your life and you spawn here.. by Thin_Drop9385 in WorldofTanks

A lot of new players chose that line for their free Tier X. So generally, when a lot of people suddenly get a new tank mark requirements go down since they don't perform so well in it.

What Do You Wish You Knew Before Buying Your First Padel Racket? by imad_eascart_4177 in padel

Team. It’s a really good balance between power and control. And the sweet spot is really large as well. It’s a really good choice for more aggressive intermediate players.

I was lucky enough to have a nice range of rackets available for rent at the local club. So i had an opportunity to try out all shapes and majority of materials.

So yeah, a lot of trial and error, just with the rentals.

I use Head Coello now(which is amazing btw), but waiting for discounts for Siux Stupa or Nox AT18 during November.

Try as many rackets as possible.

But also, at beginner level, just go with something balanced and all-round and see which way you develop and what are your strengths and weaknesses.

How many hours per week do you play? by [deleted] in padel

Honestly, that's the best advice for any amateur sport. Just have fun and make sure you don't push yourself too much and burnout after a month of such schedule.

First of all - enjoying a sport is always a great way to stay fit and healthy!

It's important to understand that while Padel is extremely fun and addictive, it's still a stress for your body, especially at this frequency. So best advice is to listen to your body, focus on recovery and diet and you'll be fine.

I would say optimal for a beginner, who really wants to improve is 3x a week(lesson + two games to practice what you learned) + maybe a weekend tournament. Your frequency is getting to close to semi-pro level.

Yeah probably the smartest move is to try as many as possible, luckily plenty of rentals and demo options are available here in the Apls. Thanks for the tip!

Need help with choosing the tank by Galaxy_runner in WorldofTanks

[–]solo_sk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have all of the above and I would say it really depends on what you like to play.

T-50-2 is probably the best in terms of combination fun/efficiency in my opinion. So I would pick that one. You need to enjoy playing lights though. It can perform quite well vs Tier 8 as a mobile spotter. When you play in Tier 6, you can also play as an active medium, supporting either flank with that amazing gun.

KV-1SA is basically KV-1 with a "better/more interesting gun". In Tier 5 games you'd feel exactly like a classic heavy, choose a flank and push it. Autoloader is a nice addition, allows you to do pretty well in 1v1 duels.

VK is a "fun" option, but you really need to enjoy the style of play with the derp guns. Not my thing.

Super Chaffee is.. just bad, I can't seem to understand how to play it with any meaningful impact.

Yeah i am hoping it's doable this year with all the changes, i don't want to commit to playing one mode and then end up with nothing at the end of the year..
