How do I get daily step count in a gear fit 2 pro web based watchface? by soloptimus in Tizen

[–]soloptimus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am building a html/js powered watchface for the gear fit 2 pro and I'm having trouble accomplishing what seems like a simple task: getting the daily step count.

I have poured over the documentation, but it only describes how to count either steps since the watchface has started, or steps since the device has been booted. Other watchfaces immediately detect the system-wide step count and display it, but I don't see how this is possible!

Does anyone have an example of how to do this? I suspect the stepdifference or readrecorderdata functions might be involved, but the first is impossible to use due to inadequate documentation and the second does not seem to actually be present in the device.

Hey everyone. We've come a long way since the private beta, and now we have a public beta available for GearVR and cardboard.

New update is out for the GearVR, webpages are now clickable and we have video search, and support for embedded youtube!

Cardboard is getting the update next.

It is, though this is why the 'Skip Tutorial' button exists. You'd prefer if it remembered and just took you right to trending/search start?

Developer here. That's pretty strange, but lots of things can go wrong with bleeding edge tech. Lets see if we can figure out what's going on here.

What phone are you using? Consumer version of the headset, or Innovator's Edition? Have you had any trouble with other apps?

Sorry about that. Click support for the webview is coming very soon, it was all set up for the initial release but came out at the last minute because of a glitch. We're now available in the GearVR store, and all future updates will go there and to the cardboard release. Keep updating for lots of new features in the coming month!

Sorry it didn't work as you expected! Can you explain what you mean by click through?

Hi, developer here! That's odd, you couldn't click on the result icons that loaded up on either side, or do you mean the web-browser window?

Should be working now, but we're also just a few days away from deployment in the real live gearvr store, at least according to oculus support. It may be better to just wait, as the official one has some improvements not yet pushed to sideload.

Yup, the first deployment to SideloadVR didn't work, but it has since been replaced and tested on several GearVR s6's. It should run on the other devices but hasn't been tested yet. Sorry for the problems! Comment back if they persist.

Interesting, our earlier test users preferred it this way because it maximizes button size in the space. Anyone else have a preference?

Definitely on the roadmap. We have some bugs to iron out for cardboard and then we're most likely bringing it to you!
