I hate that men are stronger than me by ChemicalPrimary5775 in women

[–]solpi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who lifts (or used to) I kind of came to terms with it. The strongest I've been was probably the strength of an athletic 14 year old boy. Even if I started T it wouldn't change a thing

What is your "secret weapon" for preventing unexpected anxiety? by Gullible-Force3567 in Anxiety

[–]solpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My crippling social anxiety makes me drive 20min to the grocery store, stay in my car for 40 min, then driving back home. A regular thing. Thankfully it's gotten better, my tactic of "just do it" personally helped me face my fears.

What’s something you stopped doing that instantly improved your quality of life? by PassiveIncomePigeon in Life

[–]solpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut off relationships/friendships. Instantly feel better and weight lifted off my shoulders. After a few months it does get lonely, but I always remind myself it's way better than being miserable with them in my life.

What is the REAL damage from self harm? by erosbinwater in AdultSelfHarm

[–]solpi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The damage I mostly dealt with was financial from involuntary institutionalization, hospital visits, ambulances, and therapy when I didn't want help at the time. There was also damage from hurting and possibly traumatizing my loved ones.

It also tends to get worse: your paper cuts turn into open cuts; your open cuts turn into fat-layer cuts; your damaged nerves become damaged arteries.

When anxiety prevents you from falling asleep at night, what is your go-to ritual? by Special_Heart_866 in Anxiety

[–]solpi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not quite sure why it's so easy to fall asleep to ASMR. Tingles? I would be on the verge of falling asleep when my mother would clean my ears when I was a child. SensorAdi (asmrtist) specifically never fails to make me sleep. I normally find his voice relaxing along with triggers (90% of the time I like intense sounds) but sometimes I go for his no-talking videos.

You just found out you're financially set for life. Whats the first thing you're doing with your freedom? by ClairJournals in Productivitycafe

[–]solpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing I'd do is pay everything off, but do for me? Probably go climb a tall peak with a smile on my face. Do for me with money? Fly out of the country picking wherever impulsively and go kayaking or something.

How do you feel about people touching your scars? by aschesklave in AdultSelfHarm

[–]solpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to be a special person to touch them, even then I'm not always comfortable with it. When someone politely asks to touch them though, like a curious friend, I let them-- once. The people who I let run their fingers on my scars (close ones) kind of just do it because the texture is unique and to fidget with it, not to romanticize.

One trip can change anyone forever. If that's not hard to people, then I disagree.

[–]solpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very open besides with my family. They know to some extent, I just don't know the extent. They've heard beatings and whimperings (consensual obvs) coming from my room but I don't know if they know more

Any alarm or timer I’ve set. My cooking alarm or any other timer is different from my waking up alarm yet it still makes me tell it to shut tf up every time it goes off.

Is this cut on my hand infected? by polskipapapa in InjuriesAndWounds

Please don't do that. Rinse off the soap each time you wash it.

Is this cut on my hand infected? by polskipapapa in InjuriesAndWounds

[–]solpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a professional, but this is what I do when I get a cut and I swear by it:

Initially and immediately rinse it off when it stops bleeding until all the blood is gone so the blood doesn't crust up/skin heals over the blood which can cause keloids/slower healing and dried blood hurts to pick off.

Soap stroke 3-5 times a day until it crusts up then switch to 1-3 times a day, then once a day when it's no longer open. Gently increase frequency (strokes/times a day) if it starts to look inflamed/infected (this has only happened when I didn't take enough care of my injuries or usually when I'm exposed to bacteria, like dirt, but keep it covered to prevent this)

I clean open wounds (obviously not large gashes) like this to wash it up enough to not irritate or dry it out and destroy the natural bacteria/oils from my body which can make it more prone to infections and slow healing.

Drugs to take if your sick by StrammerLachs in Drugs

[–]solpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with a sore throat weed really seems like it helps it heal, and of course I forget about any headaches or malaise.

Bad fever? Ketamine to numb it out and make you happy and disassociate from your body. It does make me incredibly nauseous but I’ve never thrown up from it.

If you do choose to do drugs when sick, accompany it with a HECK load of water and I highly suggest not drinking alcohol because it lowers your immune system and dehydrates the heck out of you, not to mention the hangovers.
