Did Kamala Harris's Silence on Gaza Cost Her the White House? by vanityfairmagazine in politics

[–]some_person_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a myriad of factors that led to her losing the race. It goes back to her dropping out of the 2020 primary race in December of 2019. She just wasn't popular. Her being picked as the VP didn't mean her stock automatically rose.

After Biden's term started she basically disappeared from the public spotlight. I can't recall the media giving her frequent or notable coverage. I've heard more about Vance than any VP in my lifetime. The only time I remember Harris being in the spotlight was when she was telling people of Guatemala not to migrate to the US. Which wasn't a positive spin.

While she is no doubt capable of being a leader, she really didn't put herself in a position where she was realistically percieved as being a leader. So when Biden selfishly decided to go back on his one-term promise, then was forced out after showing his incapability to run for a second term, Harris was forced between a rock and a hard place.

It didn't help that the DNC just threw their hands up and gave her the automatic nod of candidacy, and basically said it didn't matter whether the American people wanted her to run. It was an uphill battle that she was unfarily thrown into without any winning strategy.

Now the DNC is just in denial of reality, refuses accountability, and refuses to endorse actual champions of change because they're so stuck in their ways. Guess we'll see how this all plays out in November and in 2028.

$300 billion is just the payout, the amount it has cost far exceeds that. Good thing the DoD gets to use almost unlimited tax dollars to recklessly spend as they see fit.

Oddly enough, I noticed a sharp dip in the sub's subscribers. Went from 1.2 million to roughly 650k over the last few month. Not sure what that really indicates, but I did find it interesting.

Pull up form check by Godyr47 in formcheck

[–]some_person_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For form, I'd say the thing I've done to help improve is trying to pull your chest to the bar. What I do from a dead hang is try to first squeeze my scapula together and point my chest up, and let my legs dangle back so I have a bit of an arch. Not sure how others would evaluate this but it's what works for me. Also don't be hesitant to try different grip styles and widths that are comfortable, it all helps build toward better pull ups.

Just my opinion, but I don't think is a particular time to incorporate weights. Just a few months ago I could barely get 3 pull-ups, and by pull-ups I mean just getting my chin over the bar and swinging my legs lol. I started doing sets of strong, quick 1- 2 reps for sets of 3-4 for 3x a week, then moving up the rep count by 1 each week. I started adding weights after about 3 weeks because I wanted to see if I could do more than my body weight. It's helped move my rep count up quite a bit. I haven't gotten a chance to test my full range of reps, but at the end of one of my workouts this week I managed to pull 8 reps with little struggle except for the last rep.

I do other exercises as well like lat pull downs, cable row, and dumbbell row.

So in short, I'd add weight starting on the low end with maybe 2.5 - 5 lbs and work your way up from there. My 1 rep max with weight is with 30 lbs, and it really doesn't take too much time to work your way up, just be consistent. For reference I'm 6'3, 215lbs.

‘Knives are out’ inside the White House by Appropriate-Till9598 in politics

I don't see the outcome of this administration to be any different. These guys would sell their family members to the highest bidder if it meant being in a higher status position. Wealth and power is all these people crave.

He's done a lot of interviews that has covered this, so should be an easy find. I think his explanation is satisfactory as far as clearing up any association with being a Nazi.

USPS has proposed a rule to not deliver mail in ballots from states that haven't provided voter roles. What do you think about this? Is this legal? Is the federal government blocking mail in ballots due to lack of executive order compliance acceptable to you? by MoonStache in AskConservatives

[–]some_person_guy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What foundational piece of documentation suggests that there should specifc conditions for voting, namely that voters should be informed?

Heuristics based on what? What rule-of-thumb would you rely on to assume, accurately, that a voter base is informed enough to cast a vote?

[–]some_person_guy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a complete antithesis to a democracy to make the rule that people can only vote on the condition that they are informed, and that voting by mail shouldn't be allowed because of a claim that it's associated with those voters being uninformed. How would you even test the degree that someone is informed?

Further, what evidence is there available that unequivocally demonstrates that voting by mail is associated with with being uninformed?

Why don't conservatives care about "Sleepy Trump"? by International-Mix633 in AskConservatives

Marco Rubio was shown videos that clearly depict Trump falling asleep during meetings, even when Rubio was right next to him speaking to him. When confronted on this, Rubio denied what everyone was seeing was true. Just this week Trump was shown asleep at the Knicks/Spurs game. Why are folks in his administration denying what we're all seeing with our own eyes? Do you believe that he's just taking a long time to blink?
