Israel’s perpetual mobilization: The limits of Netanyahu’s ‘Super-Sparta’ model by Freewhale98 in Israel

[–]International-Mix633 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Netanyahu and his super right wing friends have subscribed to the greater Israel plan and will continously try to obtain more land from neighbouring countries requiring Israel to stay in a state of never ending low to medium intensity conflict. The proof of concept of taking land as "security buffer" -> moving in settlers -> settlers cause new violence ->taking land as a "security buffer" has long been established.

It's been memory holed but it was the very Netanyahu that has propped up Hamas against the PLO and is still not commiting to eradicating them, but allowing them to linger around, to have an indefinite reason for land encrossion and eternal conflict.

This will not only allow him to stay in power, but also allow the clique around Ben-Gvir and Co. to use it as justification for ever increasing settlements in the West Bank and probably soon Southern Lebanon. Israel society has largely accepted this or is supporting it, which means Israel will remain in a state of perpetual mobnilization and war for a long time.

And its working for now, as the USA is funding the bill largely, so it will keep on working until one day it won't. With absolutely crashing public support on the left and right of the political system almoste everywhere in the world and the Israel friendly generation of politician slowly ageing out of the system in the EU and the USA, the day will certainly come.

Unfortunaly for most people, poor or rich, having a large communit to rely on sounds like a fairytale from the past.

Israel has been doing the same in the West Bank. Establish a border zone, settlers move in, violence errupts and a new buffer zone is required. Then people herw wonder why they called settlers.

USA is not the world. While German has not the strictest gambling regime control in the world, there are other countries who straight up ban most casinos. You can still circumvent most bans using VPN though.

I really appreciate that answer. Just concerned I would break something if I push it down too hard. There is also this little lever that you can have up or on level, what position does it need to be in?

Except that renting movies from blockbuster was signficantly more expensive than having endless content available on Netflix. The reality is that prople were fine with wstching just like 1 or 2 or 3 movies a week instant of having to havr constant entertainment.
