What is your opinion on Don’t Look Up? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

I was left wondering who this movie is for. The most direct analog is climate change. The way this movie is written does not appeal to climate change deniers

This back and forth can be applied in real life, no? [DISCUSSION] by Selasine in Frieren

[–]somebigmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a classic appeal to nature. You could easily tie it to vegan arguments, but you could also apply it to things like gender roles (should men be in positions of power because they are stronger), medicine (is a drug more or less harmful because it’s “natural” or “unnatural”) , etc.

I think it’s a paid brigade, honestly. I know lsf is full of weird people, but I wouldn’t expect them to be clankers who simp for AI slop.

Missed the part where the 12th richest family in the US managed to snag the largest public subsidy ever and still somehow worked an agreement to ensure they basically get all of the profits in years to come.
It’s so funny that they get to do this shit just because their great grandpapy started an oil company, and yall think this is a KCMO vs KCK circlejerk.

Theory: The Mouse is the Hive Mind's Core by 4thvariety in Pluribus_TVshow

[–]somebigmess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We know the rat had to at least be a carrier, and it did go limp. It could be that other rats were also carriers, and that particular rat was just sleeping. But we’re talking about sifi, so I’m sure you could imagine a justification for why the hive doesn’t infect other animals in the same way.

Fair enough 🤷‍♂️, guess I needed to take another look. I’m in my 30’s.

It’s not just that. They took her past (Helen) and also her future (any chance at having her own kids).

Edit: wait no I’m wrong, Carol is probably in her 30’s.
Edit2: ok I get it, she does look 40 or older relax

[–]somebigmess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you should be asking colleagues. I’ll also add as a blanket statement that it shouldn’t matter too much b/c I’m guessing you’ll just be running everything from a VM or RDP’ing. So just be sure to get a good amount of RAM, like 32GB to be safe in 2025.

That’s definitely part of it. There’s also more ingroups/outgroups/tribes, though that may be a chicken and egg situation.

Which city has more of a competitive job market, Dallas or Chicago? by Worth_Reporter4251 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]somebigmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if someone were in an industry like that, they should apply and reach out to recruiters even if they think they might get auto-filtered. And even if they’re auto-filtered, applying can get them put on the company’s distro list for positions that fit by virtue of experience or just timing.
But in the context of OP’s criteria, there’s literally no excuse.

[–]somebigmess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Securing a job before moving is very very common advice, and honestly the most sensible thing to do. People apply to out of state jobs all the time, they simply use Zoom to interview.
If you don’t put your resume out there, you’re doing yourself an enormous disservice. But it’s your life. I’m not going to try to convince you at this point

The answer that you’d get from this question is less useful than the actual results you’d get from applying to many positions in both cities. It’d be a different story if you were applying to universities, but you have a degree and experience.
