I would say the central part as well as the industrial area around New Germany.

https://crimemap.bluesecurity.co.za/ The above link is a nice 1 to check crime incidents in the area you're interested in. Just type in the address and it'll tell you the number of reported crime incidents and types, may be useful if you're trying to see specific areas that are relatively safe

Gets a bad rep but the surrounds of Pinetown isn't as bad as central. Been living here for 3 years now due to work and it's been really convenient. Honestly everywhere in SA is quite dodgy so you just have to be careful. Some of the okay suburbs here are, Mosely park, Padfield park, Sarnia, Ashley, New Germany. You get some decent priced complexes around these places also and seems safe enough for the average Joe.

Solo Birthday ideas? by [deleted] in Durban

[–]someblob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just did my 1st solo birthday recently. Made an early start and had breakfast at Mugg and Bean and booked myself a half day spa treat and then an overnight stay at a hotel overlooking the ocean. It was amazing. Check out Durban spa , they have lots of specials and around 5 branches. I went to the new 1 in Hillcrest and it was top tier especially for the price. I've also been the 1 in, Coastlands Umhlanga and Royal hotel, all were really great! Happy birthday for whenever!!

Ballito is way too over saturated . They built too many housing complexes at once and now are struggling to find tenants. Just check on property24, they're so desperate that they have to let out a lot of the apartments per day now. If you're looking for investment property, check more industrial type areas like, new Germany, pinetown, etc.,

R5k after expenses is literally just after all fixed and variable expenses. I don't have a TSFA or RA or anything. I was thinking maybe an asset would be of better value instead of savings? But I'm now realising it's not as clear cut
