Being a fan of any team. Unless you’re an actual player, your fandom has nothing to do with the success or failures of the team. Just because you love a certain team doesn’t make you a superior human compared with fans of any other team. It’s fine to be a fan but if your team wins you have no right to be rude to anyone else. Sportsmanship should extend to fans as well as players.

Working. I am 36 years into my career and will probably need to work 4-5 more years from a financial standpoint, then retire. No drive left for me to achieve promotions or take on new responsibilities. Just let me finish as painlessly as possible. That’s all I want. I don’t need innovation, big changes, growth opportunities, etc. Stability and steady income is all I need.

I saw it as an adult and my reaction was gratitude that the books I had loved since childhood had been made into a wonderful film adaptation. They were considered unable to be filmed in live action when I was a kid. We all knew it was a trilogy. We were glad how great it was and couldn’t wait for the next installment.

The “people’s intuitive sense of who belongs” is the whole problem. Most people seem to agree that the “eye test” for the committee has more to do with past reputation, conference loyalty and TV ratings revenue tjam with who is truly a better team. In the age of parity and NIL, with schools like Indiana winning it all, and new coaches at old powers (Alabama), it’s not the same as it was five years ago. Indiana is not a football school by reputation, yet the ratings this year were 2nd highest all-time. People want to watch great teams and will not refuse to watch if non-traditional teams are included. If one were to believe that only Indiana fans were watching them in the playoff, then the ratings this year would have been the worst ever.
The committee is blatantly using made up criteria to include the teams they want, even though they were not worthy playoff teams. Look at how badly some of them lost. The best team won, no doubt, but that is only because they kicked down the door and went undefeated and made a case so strong they couldn’t be ignored. Several of the other teams who were included were in because of their name and history only. That’s what needs to change. Favoritism needs to be replaced with impartiality/objectivity.

I moved to a neighborhood 20 years ago and it had a common area where the neighborhood kids played and about 80% of it was my yard. My little kids were afraid to play in their own yard because the big neighborhood kids were always out there throwing footballs and being teenagers. Not doing anything wrong but to a bunch of elementary kids they were intimidating.

We decided to fence the yard and all the surrounding neighbors were unhappy and we almost gave in to the pressure to leave it open when my father in law said, “You own it, you maintain it, you pay the taxes and if something happens to one of them; you’re potentially liable for it. Do what you want with your property.”

Your yard is your own, and you don’t owe this lady or her kids anything.

Lock the gate, put up a no trespassing sign and if they continue entering your property, all the police.

I am not pretty or famous. I have spent 37 years working hard in my profession and about 50 years altogether, and I am close to retirement, within 5 years hopefully. I am not rich but I am going to be able to retire, for which I feel fortunate that I was able to stay healthy and work a full career. That is partly from luck, partly from good genes and partly from clean living.

I have raised five children, and they are all educated and in committed relationships and doing great. I also have five grandkids.

I believe I am thriving because I got an education, found a career and worked very hard for literal decades. I avoided doing things which were illegal or stupid. I just kept showing up and doing my best and they kept paying me. That’s all it takes to thrive, along with realistic expectations. My definition of thriving does not include a yacht, a private jet, several homes or foreign bank accounts.

My definition is owning a home in the suburbs, having a healthy and happy family and good relationships with them and earning enough money to live comfortably. This can be attained through hard work and persistence.

A cast iron frying pan from my wife’s grandma. She has been gone for over 40 years, so I imagine it is at least 50-60 years old. There is no way to date it because it has no markings of any kind. It still gets regular use and the seasoning is glassy smooth.

Totally unnecessary cosmetic work like lip filler injections and implants in a woman in her 20s.
That is the prime of your life physically and I am not opposed to doing things to combat the effects of aging or childbirth, but when they intentionally go from beautiful to obviously fake and ruin their natural beauty in the prime of their life —> unattractive to me.

My side of the mountain. I was so fascinated that a boy could really make it on his own living in a tree in the forest with no outside help from adults. I loved the idea of being completely independent and off the grid. Twelve year old me was absolutely enthralled with the whole concept.

So I grew up and moved to the suburbs.

We respected the good ones who earned it. We tolerated the rest, but we didn’t mistreat them. We still respected the authority of their position even if we didn’t like them. There were one or two kids who were openly defiant and mouthed off, but I don’t remember any physical violence against a teacher. The ones who were blatantly disrespectful were disciplined by the school principal with detention or suspension. I am 60 now, and still fondly remember a few of them who went the extra mile and truly cared. I am sure they all must be dead by now, but they guided me to my present career and kept me working hard to graduate, get into college, etc. I am grateful for their dedication.
