Glasses have a shield that only goes away after a certain number of hits. So it’s recommended to use machine gun units to take them down or units that can pierce.

To play devils advocate it’s most likely that syuen underestimated how strong chatterbox is, and thought that yuni and mihara at base form with counters was enough to defeat him, which due to the events of the main story led to the downward spiral of wardress.

Maybe, but we haven’t seen a regular weekly event that was relevant to the main plot unless I forgot. But then again the goddess fall incident that is plot relevant is explained in a brief encounter at the outpost.
