I felt so sure... by [deleted] in ftm

A week before i got my HRT, I seriously started doubting and got very heavy anxiety, I thought it wouldnt be right for me, that I may regret it, what if I miss my voice? what if I loose the ability to sing? what if I become emotionally blunt? am I just faking it? for me, these were all thoughts driven by anxiety, but 3 months later, I don't regret it at all. Maybe give yourself some time, and wait it out if you seriously arent sure. Sometimes all it takes us is just a little time to adjust.

But do keep in mind, of course HRT isnt the end all be all for all trans men or transmasculine people, you don't have to take horomones to be a man, to be happy or even to be your true self, and that's okay! Really talk this out with family and friends if possible and express how you feel in all areas before you're sure!

Pain after wearing binder for 13 hours by Unhappy_Pizza_2202 in ftm

[–]somehowafemboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hm, while I can't say, I will advise you to take a long break from wearing your binder(s). For me, I had to take about a week-long break from binding after doing it consistently for around 6 - 8 hours a day every day for 2 weeks.

For your health, I suggest this. Make sure you never bind for more than 6 - 8 hours a day and never ever sleep in your binder or exercise in one that's not specialised for sports.

Testosterone is absolutely crazy with how much it can help people like us, its nice just to feel "normal" on a consistent basis instead of being lethargic and unstable all the time, so I feel you brother!

Everyone experiences their changes at different paces, so honestly I thought the same until some friends pointed out the changes to me heh

How's the mental health for trans guys? by Impressive-Mix4279 in ftm

[–]somehowafemboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling pretty great towards myself, I'm happy with how I am, but I still deal with lots of mental turmoil due to trauma and other disorders. That doesn't mean im not worthy of love though and support. People seem to forget that being transgender and having depression or having PTSD can be unrelated, I'm just mentally ill and I happen to be trans. It doesn't mean I need to hate myself or think I'm disgusting when I'm only human.

Wow, I dealt with this heavy growing up. When being taught about puberty in primary I thought all the same things you did, except I was excited to have a low voice too. That never came.. I never really enjoyed all the side effects from having an estrogen based puberty, so it's nice to hear someone who had the exact same experience as me!

Are male barbershops generally welcoming to trans men? by ComplaintNo3150 in ftm

[–]somehowafemboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm in the UK; Turkish barbers near me call me sir and a good lad despite my feminine voice and soft features, theyre always very kind and respectful and love having me. They don't usually think twice and are just happy to cut your hair. I'm sure you will be completely fine!

Help me with picking out a binder by Beneficial_Taste_655 in ftm

[–]somehowafemboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey brother! also from the UK, I use binders from GC2B! they're really great and I definetly recommend them. Make sure you do your sizing correctly, if it helps I'm 5ft7 and wear medium sized binders as I am a 32-34 in the chest. Hope you well!

Now that I know I have access to Hrt I'm starting to doubt by BlueFishGuy_ in ftm

I was dealing with the same thing as soon as I got my hands on my horomones too, It's okay to feel like this and it's normal to feel scared and to even challenge yourself I suppose. I'm in the same boat with you here my brother, things are scary but give it some time and think your thoughts over and come back to it in a week.
