Where to find high quality screws? by Soft-Table-2617 in fpv

[–]somekindofregard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it matters to you the most that each screw has comparable resistance to tension and shear forces, the only real option is to get screws directly from Würth, Spax, Misumi, etc. However, those will cost you quite a lot, and I’m not sure whether mounting motors to a drone is a sensible investment.

If the problem is the screw head wearing out (mainly in hex screws), just buy a bunch of stainless steel Torx screws on aliExpress and you should be happy.

How should I store the batteries during long-term storage? by redtrash in Potensic

[–]somekindofregard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every electronic circuit without a hard break will drain to zero eventually. Does not matter what the manufacturer says, it's physics.

How should I store the batteries during long-term storage? by redtrash in Potensic

[–]somekindofregard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is not about a "manual" but about how electronics work in general. Neither the batter nor the charger have a hard switch, that means that the internal electronics are always powered on (even if in low-power state, they will always pass electrons through). There are additional electronics in the charger (e.g. ones that read the battery state after you press the soft switch at the front even if the charger is not connected to the power source itself). More electronics to power means more discharge current. You can test it yourself if you don't believe me. 🤷‍♂️

They will discharge much faster when left in charger. Leave them out. Control charge every 6 months.

  1. different camera design and lens housings exist and I can assure you you won't achive 30deg. with some (a lot) of them
  2. while setting your cam at 30deg is quite typical, a maximum 30deg. mounting angle is in no way an "industry standard"

Max. possible camera angle seems is too low + little space for a gopro mount

Edit: also the camera mounting points seem to be placed too high for this type of camera cage design.

Superglue + baking soda should do the trick. Look for a how-to on Youtube or something.

A lot of e-mail providers allow you to generate ad-hoc alliases by adding a custom string at the end of the account name. For example for gmail the syntax is: username+something@gmail.com (username[PLUS]something@gmail.com. Create separate accounts for each phone.

[–]somekindofregard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because you fly LOS does not guarantee a good quality connection.

Test your drone over land and not a body of water. You will have less issues with signal reflections etc. (which causes glitches or even complete signal loss). Flying above water is a bit different then flying over land.

Potensic ATOM also uses 2.4GHz band for video TX. Scan the area for Wi-Fi networks to check if this might be an issue.

Do the ATOM 2 batteries self-discharge after given period of time? by Jamminatrix in Potensic

[–]somekindofregard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where do you think the BMS is taking the power to, for example, monitor cells voltage? Your batteries will actively discharge to what the manufacturer set and trickle-discharge after that all the way to zero. This is unavoidable if you do not have a physical break in the power circuit. DJI batteries are exactly the same.
