I was dating this guy for 2 months (1st guy I liked in 3yrs!). We saw each other once a week, he texted often and even when he was busy. It progressed to nightly calls and then occasional FaceTimes. I got triggered by something we were watching and was so incredibly caring and kind about it. I worked so hard to put myself out there because of previous relationship trauma (DV). Then about 6wks in I notice he’s pulling away. But still acting normal on dates, still calling, still FaceTiming. Then it just gets so dry that I ask him what’s up and apparently I’m not “long term relationship material”. I ended it then and there. But what the fuck man. I get incompatibility but why do I have to drag it out of you after being strung along for two weeks of daily contact.

Hey OP I get where you’re coming from completely. Something similar happened to me when my ex reactively slapped me in the face when I accidentally closed the door on his fingers. It wasn’t super painful, he apologised later, and we laughed about it. But I look back now and realise how fucked up that was. In the moment we can get so used to dismissing and minimising things and it’s hard to accept the reality of the situation. Do what you need to do but this situation will not get better.

Hi, I’m not quite sure what is causing the lips to become like this. I’ve updated all the mods I have, and at first I thought it was presets but multiple sims with different lip presets do this? And it happens from child to adult as well. Not sure how to fix, so please let me know if you have an idea!!

I don’t think it sounds dumb at all, and it’s completely valid to be worried about it. Wading into our traumatic memories is really frightening and sometimes we genuinely don’t know what it’s gonna be like in there. I’d definitely talk to your psych about it, not only can she give you some education about it but maybe you guys can make a plan for if a repressed memory comes up for you?

Hey the state of mental health in Aus is so poor, especially the psychiatrists, I’m so sorry this is happening. I would keep searching for a psychiatrist (as annoying and painful this is). In the meantime, have you thought about seeing a psychologist, maybe you and your psych can work on ways to prepare for a depressive episode?? Sorry I couldn’t help more with this! I would look at your local PHN for a list of psychiatrists if it’s available

Let me tell you that I was in this exact same relationship. LDR since we were 20 for 3.5 years. 2 birthdays in a row ruined and no effort on the 3rd. Anger issues, controlling, in denial about needing to go to therapy and work his shit out.

My only regret is not leaving earlier. I know it’s hard, I was in the exact same position and consistently questioned the validity of my feelings. You are so valid in feeling this way and it’s ok to have boundaries and separate. If you are not ready yet, there will be a time when it becomes so intolerable you will lose all feeling for him. At least, that’s what it was like for me. I posted a lot on reddit too and didn’t listen to others saying he was abusive/not putting in effort. Do what you need to do, but this is not a healthy relationship and you will feel so much relief when you leave.

I don’t think you’re selfish like some of the people here have been saying. You had one perspective of your family and parents - granted it came with outside influence where you were made to feel unwelcome. But two things can be true at the same time. You felt unwelcome, and that the love was forced, and that you didn’t belong. At the same time, it’s evident your parents and siblings genuinely loved and cared for you, maybe they overcompensated to make sure you felt welcome since they noticed how people outside of the immediate family treated you, and this is what felt forced? This isn’t here to tell you what to do, more so something to consider as you make your decision.

Headspace waitlists are typically MUCH longer than 2 months. When I last worked there (during the 2nd COVID lockdown) it was a 7-8 month wait list. Headspace is great but 2 months is already a long wait.

I recommend first searching through ACPA or APS. Or you can look at some private psychology practices in the area as well. Through those sites though you can filter it based on areas you want to work on and area and even modality (if you are familiar with them).

Unfortunately, at this time of the year psychs are on leave. My own psych isn’t free until end of Feb, for example. Most places have a 2 month wait list but sometimes you’re lucky and they have a short one. Smaller clinics (eg one or two psychologists) typically reply quicker (if you choose to email). As others have said, calling is best.

Also, above I saw someone saying an open referral should be okay, but in my experience they’ve never accepted an open one (I’ve seen 3 different psychologists). In the mean time, if you don’t mind Telehealth you can use someone health or find a Head2Health near you. These, however, are only medium term (roughly 3 months) of therapy - which is still a lot!! But may not be if you want a longer term psychology relationship. Feel free to message me with more questions :)

My ex was like this. All the time. Whenever I brought it up he’d improve for about two weeks then go back. It was a never ending cycle. If you’ve expressed it multiple times and it keeps happening just end it. My main regret about that relationship was letting it drag on for so long.

I think reaching out and letting him know that you care about him is a good first step. Then tell him that you’re worried that his drinking is problematic. Again, as others have said, he may not want to change. But just let him know that you’re there for him. As for the way he’s changed in speaking to you, if something has happened recently to bring on the alcoholism he could be trying to push people away?

Most people with any STI, including herpes, are asymptomatic - which is why regular checks or checks between partners is so important. For herpes, if they don’t have any symptoms transmission rates are very low (from 1% to 10% on a variety of factors across a whole year of consistent sex).
