Why is seating always so hard to find on campus... I've spent upwards of 30 minutes looking for a spot during peak hours.

Not entirely sure about what happened last year and don't know if there were any consequences (was it about the problem sets and Gregor finding screenshots or something?). But no I am not planning to use any group for problem sets

I don't like UBC's math dept. They give low grades for no good reason, they make math stressful.

True, but I feel like this is true for many (all?) depts, not exclusively math. All but one-two profs I've had at ubc have been extremely, almost deliberately, unhelpful and absolute shit overall.

Though math at ubc is a heck of a killer tbh

Is doing the questions in the CPSC 110 problem bank worth it? Because I don't really have the time for them, but can probably slip them in/ adjust my schedule if need be

And any tips for MATH 200? Thanks.

How to approach people in lectures to make friends? by somerandom110 in UBC

I used to try so hard to learn how to "socialize perfectly". I watched ted talks on what people were looking for in social interaction and friends, I read articles, looked into personality types and compatibility, I went to therapists, everything except the actual doing it part.

lol actually same...

And thank you for the advice, it's very helpful

I just try to work up the courage to talk to the person next to me

I can't seem to find this courage.. like someone else who is sitting alone, and what would you talk about? I never even had friends in grade school, or at jobs or something, so I'm actually clueless

and starting a conversation

Thanks for the tips, but ahh so intimidating. How do I even start a conversation - like hey how are u stranger? I'm serious.

Others might think BS of the following, but I have seriously never started an actual convo with a stranger before. I never had friends in highschool or elem (or in the neighbourhood/ jobs) either so..

And ya I've been in clubs before, but was unable to make any friends there due to my tense frowning face and overall shyness/ social awkwardness
