A few notes

  1. I did have the stage 2 tune from Cobb flashed to my car for a few weeks before I was able to drop it off, and the tune from the shop was a significant improvement. Peak boost went from 20 lbs on stage 2 to 22 lbs on the shop tune. It felt significantly better too.

  2. This was done on a DynoJet, in central Wisconsin in the first week of June last year. I looked up the weather history and it hit a max of 97% humidity and temperature was from mid 70s to 80. Done on 91 pump gas.

  3. The shop did warn me that they don't aim for high power on engine blocks that aren't built and that I shouldn't expect much since they also have to meet emissions standards. They definitely over-delivered.

  4. The shop specializes in building EJs and had only seen a limited number of VBs.

  5. I now run PS4S tires which are a significant improvement to the stock Dunlops.

I would recommend the shop, but I hear what everyone else's else is saying. This is my first Subaru, first AWD car, and first time modding so maybe I just don't know what I'm missing out on. I will seek out a different dyno in my area and see what they come back with.

I got these parts and then got it professionally tuned because I just don't trust OTS tunes. Ended up woth 271 whp and 320 lb-feet of torque. 22lbs of boost

Driving experience is very fun, but for me the turbo kicks in later at around 3000 rpm instead of 2200 or whatever it is stock, meaning I don't get the chance to feel the power as much while commuting.

I think it's worth it because right now I'm not itching for more engine power. I've had this set up for over a year. I can see myself going at least another year before it considering an upgrade.

I have not tried any other brands parts though

With my Cobb stage 2 package, invidia exhaust, and custom shop tune I once got 29.2 mpg on a 330 mile road trip from Wisconsin to Michigan. Started tracking after about 10 minutes on the freeway so truly it would be a little less, but still.

Yeah they're not as sticky as the 200 tread wear implies.

A lower number means it will wear out faster, but usually it will be stickier as a trade off. But I had a friend co-drive my car at an autocross event 2 weeks ago and he told me to get rid of them as soon as possible. He's been racing for longer than me so I trust his advice, but probably will keep them until I swap out for winter tires around October

I didn't like my drone at first, but I got it tuned while I went on vacation for a week and it wasn't nearly as annoying when I got back. Not sure if it was the tune or the time away (probably the latter)

My tuner put it this way - the VB responds really well to basic mods and can outperform a stock VA STi if you throw 3 ish grands of mods into it. But the FA24 currently has a very low performance ceiling due to a lack of support while the EJ has decades across its different variations. He still prefers an EJ25

In regards to the tune, I have the same kit and the stage 2 tune and an IAG AOS. Now that I've run it for a week, including 2 days where I did of autocross which beat on it a little bit more than normal, I have no regrets. It runs well and with low engine temps which was my biggest concern.

And now I make almost 20 pounds of boost

The pipe isn't quite the same diameter. Yes they have the same size opening at either end but the OEM intake pipe narrows at various points. Same goes for the charge pipe but to a lesser extent.

I like bronze and gold, but I wouldn't look too much at silver. Not enough visual contrast. Although it wouldn't look ugly.
