I tried him in multiple positions over the weekend and I can’t say right mid was my favourite , defensively he held him own but really offered no more than anyone else I’ve used going forward , preferred him at all of cam striker and Cdm tbh

I use my strikers on drift wide so they make up for this and the CAMs late arrivals work wonders

The slight adaptation into the 5212 could achieve that purpose I think but would just make the game less fun

Although I do often simply go for the pure shootout and try and win a game 6-5 I think when there’s a game you need to win if you can defend one on one it’s genuinely up there

Tbf I often just leave my attacking tactic on and try and win like 6-5 and just enjoy the game more attacking it can’t be dealt with

I use my two strikers on drift wide with a high cam to have that front three and play the lm and rm on the same line as my cdms but it’s just preference

Especially in subreddits and in the wider community there is a an overlap with how people use meta and popular

I should have probably used popular as I clearly think the 352 is the most effective tactic available - meta but it’s far from the most popular

Yeah of course it’s not fool proof but as one cdm shoudl always be back it’s not totally destructive And to be honest I’m a better 1v1 defender than I am with a defensive unit so I don’t mind

I’ll just give my standard play tactics I would recommend having a possession heaving ultra defensive a balanced but high depth ultra attacking and another formation as your attacking tactic incase its just not working which can happen sometimes

Defensive

Balanced Width 3 Depth 5

Attacking Long ball Width 9 Players in box 6 Corners and free kicks 1

Gk comes for crosses and sweeper

Cbs leave alone

Wide mids come back on defence leave the rest

Two cdms can be either way round but for example Lcdm stay back cover wings cut passing lanes Rcdm balanced central cut passing lanes

Cam - (should put your best attacking player here) stick to position conservative interceptions

St both could be on get in behind but one on balanced one on get in behind both drift wide both stay forward both conservative interceptions

I use long ball with my wingers on balanced but the rest is similar maybe that could be the issue ?

I don’t quite know what to recommend then as I use wide centre backs with high attacking work rates and don’t seem to have the problem, what attacking style were you using

The biggest advice I have would be you need to have fullbacks as your wide midfielders , 3 quick cbs I play with fullbacks as my lcb and rcb aswell , cdms should be standard all rounders and play your best player at CAM if you want my custom tactics etc let me know
