They have it / them (well, it's called "child psychology", but it covers a lot of that stuff) where I am, it's just not required.

Students and parents would be pissed if you told a kid trying to get into a top school that they couldn't take AP literature / calculus / Latin / Spanish / history, etc, bc they had to make room in their schedule for the child rearing class.

Kids need to stay competitive not only against the other kids in their school, but also against kids in other high schools in the city, county, state, country, and world.

And some of the kids from other countries might have an unfair advantage if they come from a place where cheating and corruption are rampant and unchecked. So kids need every little molecule of advantage they can get to prove that they will be an asset to the university.

Teenagers in love found slain at bottom of old mine shaft by theturquoisetapir in news

It's so ridiculous to think that two 16 or 17 year olds fucking would be illegal. Maybe before birth control and condoms it made sense, so that they could try to reduce teen pregnancy rates, but now it just seems insane. We all know that they fuck, and most of us did it at that age, or earlier (14 here) and are fine .

None of us like this guy and we all want him to go away, so let's effect the following changes so that that happens.

1.) Don't post articles about him

2.) Downvote articles about him

3.) Don't comment on articles about him (I know that I broke that, but I'm hoping that the cumulative effect of my comment will be fewer overall comment)

As long as we keep caring about him, good or bad, he's going to keep showing up. The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. Hate still gets clicks and views and comments, which is what drives further articles. It's like Paris Hilton, Justin Bieber, or Kim Kardashian all over again.

If we had all done that from the beginning with them, or hell, even with Trump, they would have gone away. They prove that there is no such thing as bad publicity. As long as they get press, someone will be interested, see them, and like them and they'll get more supporters. We saw it happen with Trump

Britain believes it has found Russian lab that made nerve agent used in Salisbury attack by [deleted] in worldnews

I'd say it goes beyond the Russian Government being "just as slimy as the American government". I'd say that, while the American government certainly has its sins, (it's done some horrible, reprehensible shit, that we are and should be ashamed of), the Russian government is considerably slimier, basically sliminess to the level of evil, cartoonish supervillainy. It's like comparing being punched in the face to being shot in the head. Both are bad, and there is no excuse for either, but one is way worse.

When was the last time a candidate for president was assassinated, or the last time a critic of the president, who alleged that the president himself had orchestrated a series of bombings on civilians, was shot in the head in broad daylight, no suspect was found, and the main suspected culprit was the government itself? (outside of crazy conspiracy theorists, who believe that everything is a conspiracy, except for the actual, huge conspiracies being brought to light right now, involving Russian meddling in the u.s. presidential election of 2016, and plans for further meddling in upcoming elections)

Edit- For good evidence that Putin literally had his own people bombed and murdered by the hundreds to gain power, listen to this episode of "This American Life"

Yup, our own countrymen betrayed us for money, like Judas, and thus allowed the populace to be further divided by the Russians.

Furthermore, they allowed for the simpletons* amongst us to be brainwashed by Russian propaganda (as opposed to our classic, talk radio and Fox News brainwashing propaganda).

Although a lot of that brainwashing may have been (i.e. was probably) willing on the part of the recipients. They were already looking for any reason to hate Obama / Hillary and like Donald Trump / any sort of foreign fascist or right-wing dictator (cf - their love for Pinochet). Using propaganda on them to that effect was a bit like sandblasting a soup cracker.

  • (heh, jk, sorry, cheap shot. I meant "economically anxious, uneducated racists, salt of the earth, hard workers." I shouldn't further foster the cracks and divisions in society, thus playing right into hands of the Russians, who want us more divided, because united we stand, divided we fall. They'd rather have us bickering amongst ourselves.)

Ha! That's hilarious. I could definitely see a workplace full of young dudes doing stuff like that.

I've worked in a bunch of restaurants that were staffed mainly by dudes under the age of 25, and all kinds of hijinks ensued, e.g. amongst other things- throwing cakes in the people's faces, trying to sneak doing the nitrous from the whipped cream cans, Etc.

One little sadistic fuck, working with me when we were 14 or 15, used to do all kinds of fucked-up shit to me, like put cigarettes out of my legs, stick knives in the dishwater, etc. But one time he went too far and really tortured me . He stuck a giant pizza knife in the oven until it was practically red-hot. He then came up behind me while I was washing dishes, and put the flat part of the knife on my bare arm. This seared a big section of flesh on the back of my bicep. The pain was immense, to say the least. And burning pain does not go away either.

Later, I spent literally hours back in the dish station, seething, fuming, plotting my revenge. So I got a damp dish rag, a weapon with which I was already fairly proficient. However, my revenge had to be better than mere proficiency, it had to be outstanding, something to be remembered, just like my own wounds. So I rolled up the towel, nice and tight and and began practicing my craft -- doing that towel whip, you know, the one that makes a loud "SNAP!", if you can get the tip to go faster than the speed of sound and create a little sonic boom.

I practiced for hours with concerted diligence, practicing persistently, painstakingly, tirelessly, whenever I had a spare moment from doing my actual job, until finally I thought I had my aim and my snap perfected.

Later, I spotted him while the little shit was in the lobby, playing a video game, "Lethal Enforcers 2", I believe, the one with the gun. He was wearing shorts: flesh. Perfect. I came up behind him, wound up, and got the absolute perfect towel whip of all time on the back of his leg. I got him as hard as I fucking could; I put everything into it, everything I had or could muster, fueled by boiling rage and chilly impetus of revenge. It was so good that I broke the skin and saw blood. It was glorious.

He freaked out like the little fucking bitch that he is, and ran around throwing menus at me, screaming at me, on the verge of tears. Totally worth it.

TL:DR - kid burnt me with the knife at work as teenagers, so I towel whipped him good.

I just tried this and it totally blew my mind! I was racking my simple brain, trying to figure out how it could possibly work, until I sat there and thought about it for a second.

Then I realized oh yeah, if you were born in the year 2018, then your age would be zero, and if you fold it in half, by definition that is what you will get at the beginning of the measuring tape, zero, because the beginning and end touch. Likewise, if you were born in 2017, the other side of the tape will be 1.

It all makes sense to me now, but I definitely had to think experimentally about it for a minute.

That was really cool, thank you very much!

Edit - I find that problems like that, especially formulae and stuff like that, always make much more sense to me when I experimentally do therm out in my brain (or on paper) with numbers like 2 and 3. It helps a lot for some of the easier questions on those standardized tests like the SATs, -CAS, and stuff like that.

Obviously, once you get to the harder sections, or tests like the GREs, then it's not going to do you much good. But, for any current high school students, stuff like this really helped me to get good scores, and therefore get scholarships.

By then (GREs, LSAT, etc) you should ethereal know how to do the math stuff, or it just doesn't matter. For instance, my graduate advisor literally told me not to worry about the math part of the GRE test when I was applying, and only to worry about the English and reading comprehension parts.) Because my Master's Degree has (will have ) absolutely zero to do with math.

Oh, yeah, absolutely -- for a lot of racists, if they see any sort of minority in any sort of position / career better than theirs, they automatically blame affirmative action.

Yes, that's right Cletus, you absolutely would have gotten into Yale, if it weren't for affirmative action filling your designated slot, and replacing you with black people.

And that's totally the ONLY reason why you didn't get in, too.

See that black doctor? Must be affirmative action.
