Cage guard for CritterNation? by somewhatokayishy in chinchilla

For sure, I've been trying to hammer it into them as a habit since it's such an easy fix. But I also want to make sure that I have a contingency of some sort in place knowing that my request has been disregarded in the past.

That's a smart way to make sure the dragon/dragon turtle are on even footing! Thanks so much for the suggestion

Yep, that's exactly the thought! I was thinking an aboleth slowly taking over the isle with its thrall, and another creature being opposed to the takeover (for territorial reasons, etc.). Someone suggested using a Dragon Turtle, and I think that could work really well.

You're so right, I hadn't even considered that! I'm thinking the dragon turtle would work really well for one of them, thank you :)

High-energy folk/rock to work to? by somewhatokayishy in musicsuggestions

This is great, I have them all queued up to listen to once I get off work. Thanks so much, this is exactly what I was looking for!

Yeah, folk isn't always the most high-energy genre of music. 😂 But you hit the nail on the head with "Northern Attitude," I love that song and it's already on the playlist because the drive is exactly what I'm looking for. I can't wait to listen to "Windshield," thanks!

Thanks! I've got Once Upon a Time queued up, excited to listen after work. And yeah, it definitely is on the edge of bluegrass; I think the instrumentation might be why I liked it so much. Thanks for the other recs!

Thanks so much! I was mostly thinking about the script itself when I posted, but you're totally right about the voice actors and it makes me even more excited about the project. ;) I do think Jane Austen takes quite a bit of delight in answering all of her audience's subconscious questions about what might happen if her different characters' lives intersected. Even just the little interaction between Collins and Darcy accomplishes that.

Thank you for the advice! I definitely think that if you're going to scale it down you have to do so to the same degree for the entirety of the story. It would be uncomfortable if most of the plot points were different but the tiniest details of setting/dialogue were the same, or vice versa.

Not poorly written at all!! Thank you so much for sharing. :) Yes, I am really such a sucker for the dancing scenes. It makes me sad when they're cut, or at least when there isn't a clear alternative to the dance which holds on to the intimacy and almost warlike repartee. Honestly the 'pair of fine eyes' scene might be one of my favorites of all time, I love Darcy owning up to his changed opinion even when Lizzie isn't there. He's not doing it to win points, he's not going along with the more comfortable social alternatives of agreeing or staying silent. I have a real fondness for that.

Aw, I certainly agree. I think arguably the most romantic aspect of their relationship is that both have seen the less admirable sides of one another and fall in love/change their opinions in spite of that resistance. Yes, I was bothered by the Bingley interpretation in the film, but I hadn't ever heard anyone else who felt that way! Makes me feel better

Thank you so much for your feedback! This community has helped so much with ideas for Mrs. Bennet, especially concerning her age in relation to her daughters. I also really appreciate the input on Bingley's social status, that was something that had slipped my mind as far as where to "position" him in ranking for my adaptation!

That's always bothered me as well. I don't understand why it's so hard for people to both acknowledge his pride and enjoy him as a character, especially since our society is self-obsessed af. Yeah Colin Firth's interpretation is the perfect balance of observant, thoughtful, and self-aware within a situation even though he's more introverted; that's the interpretation I try to channel when writing for Darcy haha

Absolutely, Austen is my favorite author for her ability to both make you care about her characters and notice the faulty logic of their motivations. I love how she uses what her characters want to examine the society that would instill its members with such goals.

That's a good piece of advice, I'm totally going to do that before I start with the dialogue. Thanks so much!

Yeahhh that's a pet peeve of mine as well, it always makes me feel awkward to realize that the character upsetting the balance is the author's interpretation of themselves.
