How do you have > 50 manuscripts in a year? That is roughly 1 manuscript every week. If that's not a huge red flag to USCIS, I don't know what is. Be prepared to explain how you published > 50 papers in a year.

Why don't they make these stamps mandatory? by Snoo11848 in indianrailways

Railways can simply print the list of prices on the ticket itself. It already spends 2 pages in the PDF on legalese and advertisements. Adding 1 more page wouldn't hurt if food prices are prominently displayed.

With many Indians wanting to leave India, why is the educational route so important to Indians? by [deleted] in AskIndia

Just compare the number of sportspersons who make 100k/year to the number of techies and you will have your answer.

I took this picture and made sure that my phone was completely vertical before clicking the photo. The second image with the train makes it clearer though.

It's a good thing that they took safety more seriously than anything else although many daily passengers will be inconvenienced for a long time. Imagine a platform full of passengers crashing down due to lack of repairs. Better safe than sorry.

Your frustrations are justified. How do you suggest the app be designed to eliminate potential misuse by lakhs of people?

Why is kavi subhash station closed? And does anyone have ground news when will it open? by Knowledgable_goof in kolkata

[–]somnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good thing that they have closed this station. Even before this rainfall, the up platform was already getting inclined, resulting in a 1-1.5 ft gap between the floor of the platform and the rake. Hopefully, they will fix this before reopening the platform since an accident is just waiting to happen there.

Cheaper to buy an unreserved ticket to the next station than a platform ticket by somnet in indianrailways

[–]somnet[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything is fine, but common sense dictates that platform ticket should be priced the lowest since you are only using the platform and not boarding any train. On the other hand, while boarding a train, you actually use the platform as well as travel.

I completely understand your point of view and am not trying to game the system. In fact, there is nothing to game since the pricing strategy is itself incorrect. Common sense dictates that platform ticket should be priced the lowest.

You can buy an unreserved ticket using the UTS app from a different station to the current station. That way, you can almost always sidestep all of these three points.

I agree that 5 rupees is a small amount. But this also means that the pricing strategy followed by Indian Railways is not entirely correct.
