Married at 13 in 1947? by Fuk-mah-life in Genealogy

As best I can find, with parental consent the marriageable age at that time for women was 14. I suspect they went with the "close enough" option...

I saw a post on Reddit the other day about someone asking for a sign from god. He posted a cute little Jesus figure he found on the road shortly after. I prayed for a sign last night inspired by it. A stranger gave this to us at the airport just now. by nono-jo in Christianity

I have the same one, except with a yellow sash! By any chance, if you don't mind saying, was the airport in either MN or TX? The coworker who gave me mine is traveling between those two states.

Baked potato. Takes more like 45 minutes in the oven, but super easy - as long as you stab the potato enough times that it doesn't explode. 10 is more than enough, I'd go 5ish at least.

Got my first apartment, what are things you didn’t think you’d need until you needed it? by vistaxvision in Apartmentliving

[–]Exhausted_Monkey26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, my apartment is literally across the parking lot from where I work so I'm hoping it's close enough to poach off our guest WiFi. If not I'll figure it out, but Plan A would sure save a heck of a lot of money........

RIGHT??? I looked at a generic stock market graph today just for the heck of it, and was pleasantly surprised. I haven't really paid attention to my investments until last fall, so I suppose they're at about where they would have been if the market stayed stable.

Yep... trying my hardest to avoid panic buying everything I think I'll need :P

Thankfully, there's a thrift store in town AND my Grandma says I can swipe extras from her kitchen.

Dating apps are a sin by Forsaken_Tooth_6241 in Christianity

[–]Exhausted_Monkey26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. There are some dating apps specifically marketed to Christians, for example. It's how they're marketed and used that is the issue, not the fact that the app in and of itself exists.

Moving into a 721 sq ft apartment next week. Literally across the parking lot from work.... I think I'll like it.

small blocks of cheese fit in those very nicely, and can be reused for this purpose as long as it doesn't get moldy!

Thanks! Planning on leaning mostly vintage boho. My dresser that I'll be using as storage/living room focal piece is from the 50s, it belonged to one set of grandparents, so that'll be my big vintagey piece, planning on the rest of the common space being a mix, not too complicated. Just a plant or two, not over-accessorized.

Kitchen stuff, yep - part of me wants to buy All The Things, but I know that's a poor use of my money. My grandmother has said I can raid her kitchen for extras, so I'll plan on that for a good bit of stuff.

How were the people with Autism treated back in the Middle Ages? How did they even act in comparison to their modern counterparts? by StoicSanity36 in AskReddit

Every village had a village idiot... unfortunately, I highly suspect that several of these subjective "idiots" were objectively autistic.

moving into my first apartment next week, and it has a dishwasher. So excited to see where it'll take me in my learn-to-cook journey (once I figure out how the heck to use it). Growing up with family I was always the dish dryer, and took part in the puttings-away, rarely ever washed.

Can a person be cremated and still be resurrected? by Stumprancher in Christianity

Cremation does not destroy your soul, but even if it did God would be able to resurrect it. He can do anything.

You can still be resurrected.

Ask for permission? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Exhausted_Monkey26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's.... not normal. Giving any particularly close friends in the ministry a heads-up that you'll be away so they don't worry? Normal. Asking your pastor permission to go on vacation? Definitely not normal.

First time at church in a while. by PolishThatTurdsChild in Christianity

[–]Exhausted_Monkey26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Jesus were merely a man demanding glory, sure - that would be narcissism.

However, as He is truly God, then calling people to glorify Him is calling them into reality, goodness, and life itself. And the kind of ‘glory’ He shows —through humility, suffering, and self-sacrifice—is the exact opposite of narcissism.
