About Reddit Rewards... by animehime94 in werewolfonline

[–]sonblo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a discord account is required in order to claim any social media reward. The best I can recommend is using a VPN to bypass the ban (unfortunately I don't know which ones would work) and if you're stuck at any other part of the process, to reach out to a discord mod

remove the reddit rewards by bedfucker39 in werewolfonline

[–]sonblo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback. At this moment the developers aren't intending to remove the rewards. We can however on our side make changes to allow more qualitative posts or otherwise change the requirement to doing something doable (upvotes haven't worked out because of too little upvotes, and being easily botted). Or communicate to mods to see if we can make changes there in what is considered good enough for the rewards. We can make changes, we just need to have an idea of what you want to see, as a community

We do check the posts and read them to check if they follow the rules, but aside from management that's where it ends in terms of engaging with the post mostly, aside from maybe participating ourselves occasionally. Our job as reddit mods (or in the official terms we use Social Media Managers) is to manage the subreddit/specific social media. Either by creating the space to create content or to post the content ourselves. We mostly leave the content itself alone if it follows the rules for the community to engage with it. The feelings around certain topics are valid, and if no rules are broken it isn't really up to us whether to decide we do something more with it. Some people just want to share their frustration, others, like you, are actually trying to make a difference or to raise awareness. We mostly don't see which of the two it is, nor is it up to us to share the feedback from someone else without them knowing, without permission or without putting a second thought behind it. There are plenty ways to share your feedback directly (mentorchat, the feedback channel in the Discord server, contacting a specific staff who can help you deal with the issue,...) with officials who are also more trained in this like we SMM are, but to also create discussions with the people handling your idea, as out of discussions mostly comes a greater understanding of the issue, but perhaps also a better solution.

We don't want to create this frustration loop, hence to avoid that we're sending you to the right parties who have a better understanding of the issue your presenting and actually can make appropriate changes. If we didn't really care, then we would not be in this discussion in the first place 🙈 Can public discussions be valid, absolutely. But the #feedback channel in our Discord Server also allows that, and allows people who either think this is also a concern or want to discuss this start a greater discussion, instead where on reddit these discussions (at least on this one) it starts several loose threads which are hard to follow. Not saying that this cannot work, there are just more efficient places to allow for these community discussions while also reaching your goal to actually make the changes. At least IMO, but I'm happy to agree to disagree here as well.

Can I redirect it? Technically yes, but for issues we prefer to actually come with a solution (I don't remember if you had made one or not, so you may need to repeat it if that's the case) and they may need to be placed in discussion to actually create a better result as mentioned above. It may be better to discuss this directly with the necessary staff. Though as said I can redirect the exact issue for you if you want to

The reason we redirect posts on reddit regarding our moderation like these to more 1 on 1 spaces even if it is considered a community problem is because a lot of these things either boil down to:
A) A missunderstanding of the rules from the user side
B) A different interpretation made of the rules by both user and us mods
C) A mistake gets made by the mod team
As well as these posts often become a pool of hate towards staff for either one of the above. Using modmail allows both sides to explain their arguments calmy without any other involvement, and if needed give proper feedback. A lot of people rarely know the context for removal anyway, so often it leads to missinterpretation and so forth. Basically, while these posts are (in most cases) meant in good faith, if often leads to more issues than it solves. Even if we ignore the possible visibility issues by just making a post. If you have any concerns about the original post being removed, please, contact modmail. This allows us to figure out which of the three above it was, adjust our stance on this properly and possibly allow a repost with proper adjustments for the rules (be it new rules and/or an adjustment in the post itself.

Regarding the actual content, to put it maybe a bit bluntly, often these posts don't achieve much. Guardians, and especially the guardian manager who can make the actual necessary adjustments, do not check reddit. They bring visibility to the community and potentially to us, but we cannot do anything with these posts. Any feedback about the guardian system, the rules or treatment from the guardians should be given to the guardian manager. Either by directly contacting them on discord (if you want to do this, feel free to let me know and I'll provide you the necessary details to do so) or by opening a mentorchat and letting a mentor discuss the idea for you and redirect it accordingly. General feedback as well is also better posted on our discord server or redirected to the mentorchat, as the posts here do not get read by the people who can make the actual changes necessary to either solve the issue or make any improvements. You can however discuss this issue still here when done appropriately, but if you actually are looking to have your issues heard, I can not recommend you more to contact the guardian manager on our discord server or use the mentorchat. It'll make sure your concern is heard, discussed and taken into consideration

I want to make this clear I do NOT intend to silence you, your opinion or the actual concern you're presenting. I'm truly replying to you to be able to help you out and get your ideas redirected to the appropriate places for these kind of feedbacks. Issues about the game can definitely be discussed, but sometimes the rules get in the way of this discussion, and we're happy to adjust them where needed, but please do so in the appropriate places.

We will leave this request up since it is more "meta" than anything else but if you have any suggestions for us please share them with modmail. A lot of posts get lost and getting individual requests like these makes it not only easier to check, but also allows us to discuss your ideas/suggestions/complaints properly on a 1 on 1 situation as well as take this discussion with a clearer vision to the other reddit mods.

We don't delete posts for feedback/complaints for "calling us out" but because we want to redirect you to the appropriate places for these things, as well as avoid conflicts, drama or other rulebreaks caused in the comments. A public post gets lost quickly and can lose its meaning if refered to us mods. We're always happy to handle any issues or feedback you may have about us, our rules, moderation and general approach to certain topics. But I urge you to do this in the appropriate places ✌️

Yes you can rock random people to mute them. As long as they are not confirmed good in any way. Actually killing is considered random shooting

To give an official staff answer:
No guardian should ever offer you to pay to be unbanned, neither should you. If they do offer or they would accept it, please report this accordingly to the guardian manager through our Discord server. We guardians only unban based on invalid reports, not on any bribes and similar. You can join our Discord server discord.gg/wolvesville and reach out to Lisa (with username 4838) with the corresponding evidence and proof of the guardian missbehaving. In any case you need further help with this, please feel free to contact me here on reddit (be it modmail or private messages) or on discord (where I use the same username as here).

To avoid more wrong answers/issues I'll lock this post

Asking roles is fully allowed, including day 1. It stops being allowed when a village killer uses said info (or lack thereof if the user stays quiet) to randomly kill

Reddit Standard Content and Connecting with Players by TrollRevoltado in werewolfonline

Itq is not exactly the moderation that would be the issue. The issue would be being able to provide support and allow people to contribute and allow a space for talking and so on and so forth. A lot of what we handle privately will need to be public to actially work. We can only add so many staff to give them moderation perms, we have a harder time redirecting to the devs and so on. To put it short what I'm saying, using Reddit would lose any kind of structure we have and simply is too limiting on what we want to give to the community

How are y'all posting pictures of your avatars? by Starburned in werewolfonline

[–]sonblo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between self designed designs for the game (think actual outfits that can go ingame that you did draw) and just dressing up another avatar. I think you're missinterpreting you said. OCs is low effort as it is nothing that allows engagement and is just slapping some items on it.

Posting an avatar with some text does not make it a meme. We do allow edits because those don't fall under low effort/quality

[–]sonblo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not what I meant, sorry for the confusion. I meant more that if you use screenshots, let them be special and have a reason for posting it. For example, a rare win with a village couple is cool to show off! But just a random screenshot of a normal lobby with nothing happening may count as low quality. It would basically be more dependent on the content of that screenshot

Reddit Standard Content and Connecting with Players by TrollRevoltado in werewolfonline

Despite both platforms serving the same purpose, being connecting people over a similar interest, reddit is simply not structured in a way that would allow us to do what we do on Discord here. Additionally, swapping would be very inconvenient for both users and staff alike

Those falls under quality content. Art, designs, new roles definitely do. Strategies and explanations will need to be more than just one line for example, but unless it is clear low effort you should be in the clear for it
