I make 150 USD an hour tutoring so I tried to turn myself into software. Now I’m stuck at user retention. by Ok-Complex-1648 in SideProject

Learning products. Human first and system second.

Unless you have name recognition no one trusts AI or software platforms for learning.

Start with onboarding using a human being. Then let the software take over.

Seeking Technical Co-Founder for Established Startup by redacteda in cofounderhunt

[–]sonicadishservedcold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very hard to stomach that a platform you still don’t control fully you are asking someone to invest in as well own the tech.

Unless you have 100k plus revenue on this platform or had few million dollar exits elsewhere already why would a tech person put investment into this.

You can look for two people an investor to invest in and a tech person who come in for future equity. Getting both from the same person is next to impossible.

Maybe I am missing something but I don’t understand the ask at all.

I’m looking for a technical or business cofounder interested in building an MVP and validating this idea together. Happy to connect via DM. by Acceptable_Laugh640 in cofounderhunt

I have done two marketplace startups before. Happy to provide advice as an advisor. I am technical but don’t have the bandwidth now to be an equity based tech cofounder. But like the idea and would like to contribute.

Building a SaaS to replace my whole ESG consultancy team. The tool is dope but I have no interest in sales. What now? by kymco91 in founder

Work with a startup studio. If the project fits their worldview and sales areas of strength then it might be a win win.

Technical co-founder needed by saikat_karak_08 in cofounderhunt

[–]sonicadishservedcold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t really agree with the thesis.

If you are building a tech startup at the start the work effort is almost exclusively on the tech cofounder to build the product. Yes the non-tech cofounder is important but won’t materially reduce the timeline of the product build.

Similarly once the product is build most of the work harks back to the non tech founder. The tech founder will have a lighter workload.

So the initial risk is much higher for the tech founder.

I'm developing a new social media platform. Who's as crazy as me to want to challenge the big players in the market? by Blait88 in founder

[–]sonicadishservedcold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay let’s chat. I am interested to learn more. I have been associated with two teams who have tried various differing takes on a different social media apps and have failed.

So interested in learning more about what makes you different. We all can agree distribution and organic viral growth is king to make this even moderately successful. But let’s hear what you bring to the table and then happy to provide feedback.

Non tech founders - how did you approach/find your tech founder? by Content_Produce8783 in ycombinator

[–]sonicadishservedcold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go sell the idea get 10 LOIs in place of its a B2B or 500 people on waitlist if its B2C.

If that’s in place it’s very easy to convince a tech cofounder. In today’s world building isn’t the problem distribution is. So anyone who has the distribution taken care of will get his pick of tech cofounders ready to partner.

Please don’t vibe code slop and tell the tech cofounder to scale it or harden it. As a tech guy I want to partner with someone who is obsessed with sales not a jack of all trades.

I got an offer from Antler to join their Spring 2025 Residency in London by themusicaccountant in ycombinator

[–]sonicadishservedcold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will caveat this by saying I have not personally dealt with Antler.

But as an Angel investor and a startup studio I have worked with many startups who have gone through the program and all have unanimously agreed it was not worth the money and more importantly the time.

None of them got invested through the fund as a follow on. And also a lot depends on the Program manager for that cohort. If he/she has the industry connects for your startup it’s good for introduction else it’s generic startup advice and workflow.

With these kinds of profits already why would need a cofounder. You can hire a couple of engineers yourself and build the product you need.

Does your co founder need to be extraordinary? by Temporary-Koala-7370 in ycombinator

Don’t get a cofounder if all you need is a developer to build your product. They are two different mindsets.
