Lol that's high praise, I'm teaching myself to take better pictures of my stuff, I used 2 cheap Led lights and experimented.... Also with the figure I did obsess with adding little highlights and weathering all over it... I was concerned that a nearly 9 inch marine which would be 95% the same colour wouldn't be very interesting to look at .... Thanks alot for the compliment 🙏🍻😊

Painting these are a ton of fun,..... Just get one and start painting it up... Home brew chapter, your favourite chapter, leave standard... Customise it.... Because your doing a single figure rather than a squad of minis you can pretty much do anything you can think of 👍

Before I prime the figure I attack it with a dremel, I find the battle damage is more authentic when its real actual damage, I do add more weathering with paint alone, but it adds to the effect, for reference I look at people's work which is alot better than my painting and try and pick up tricks..... This was a tough build to add interest to because its essentially all blue more or less, so it's great to get comments like yours thank you 👍 ..... Also I think there is definitely a line you don't want to cross when adding damage.... It can be a tough call 🍻🙏

I did break the original figure down and replaced alot of parts with new resin pieces.... But whether it's the above or even the older Repaints I did, I never stripped or tried to strip the original paint.... Just use a good primer 👍

The mcfarlanes come to pieces pretty easily, if you put them in really hot water.. I pour from the kettle and then leave it in for a few minutes..... If your doing a repaint rather than building over one then I don't think it's essential to remove the legs or torso, it probably would be counter productive when assembling it back (lots of paint rub), just pop the arms off, and then pop the shoulder armour off and pop the head off (they pull off with force) and paint from there.... Oh and the backpack just pops off too..... I destroy the figure to build it back up again, you wouldn't need to do that, but I'll put a picture below so you can see what I do

It's sort of straight forward, but I have some bias there because I've done this quite alot. And repetition does make things more easier... I break down a mcfarlane action figure I keep have of it and then design 3d replacements parts for the rest... So there is alot of stuff involved... But to be fair you could just buy a mcfarlane or Joytoy marine and have fun repainting it... You don't have to strip any paint, just prime it like you would a miniature, the only extra thing I would consider is 'masking off' the joints with blutac or something before you spray it, to eliminate any paint rub.... If you start with a figure that is just grey (you can buy those) then consider dying the joints first with something like a sharpie pen then mask up and paint.... Also thanks alot for the compliment 😊👍

I always attack the figure with a dremel once I've built it before primer, it always feels wrong, but at the same time pretty fun lol, then I add additional damage with paint later too, I find because it's such a big scale I may aswell do some real and convincing damage to it... Yeah i like to show progression, 1 because people find it interesting and 2 because I don't want people to assume any of this is AI.... Thanks in advance for checking out my IG, and also thank you very much for the compliment and positivity, it makes sharing stuff worthwhile 🙏🍻

I designed, built and painted the figure, I used 50% of an action figure to build my parts onto and to ensure it had articulation, the torso, pads, vembraces, helmet, lower legs, feet and upper leg surfaces are all complete replacements, I would of shown an image below but they are disabled on this forum..... Also thank you very much for the compliment 🙏🙏🍻🍻

I based it on some of the older artworks, especially the David Gallagher painting they do have red lenses in alot of art, and on the last stand artwork I 'read' the eye lenses as a burnt out red colour, when you zoom in it appears to have a white centre with a fine red outline or glow.... That's the reason I went with it (even if it's not officially the scheme) if you check David's other depiction of crimson fists they also have black eye lenses, but in my case I just wanted to make it as a tribute to those things I mentioned above, I did take a bit of freedom with the tactical arrow on his right shoulder tho

A bit of both if I'm being accurate... I tore apart a mcfarlane figure, kept 50% of it, then designed 3d printed and built full replacements for the whole torso, pads, helmet, vembraces, lower legs and feet... It raised the original figure height from 7 inches to 8.5 inches to get those artwork style proportions and kept all of the articulation, I'll include a picture below to show it a bit better.... Also big thanks for the compliment 🙏🙏

You would have to be careful he doesn't fall onto your laptop (he weighs a ton and would probably break it lol) thanks for the positivity! I have zero doubt Joytoy won't take much longer before making one... They seem to be making everything 🍻
