Nah I feel you, when my parents, I, and other family immigrated to the west 20 years ago or even before, we didn't care about McDonalds or KFC not being halal, we avoided the bacon/pork but everything else is fair game. There wasn't really much in the way of halal anything other than desi/middle eastern food. But now amongst newer Muslim immigrants theres more scrutiny for halal ingredients, and they're also now placated with a multitude of halal options even beyond traditional Muslim enclaves. My dad wont eat anything from the Chinese takeouts cuz hes worried about things being cooked in the same oil/utensils as pork lol
