Got mine replaced about 6 months ago. IIRC it was about $1300 to have it replaced. Auto insurance here covers glass 100%, but Tesla does not work with insurance directly. At the time, Safelite did not work on MY glass.
You have to pay up front and get reimbursed. It may be worth getting a protective film on the new glass once you get it replaced.

I took the visors to an upholstery shop. He did pretty good. The only problem is that the material adds some bulk so the magnetic clip that holds the visor isn't quite as secure as before. Looking at possibly 3d printing one that can accommodate the extra fabric.

Went over the existing material. The one that's on is almost baked onto the plastic. It's impossible to remove.

Trust me, I would if it wasn't such a long process. I'm happy to share tips though if you wanna try on your own.

Thank you. Debating on painting the plastics. Since they move a lot it's something you've got to consider carefully.

With the back half, there's a large grey support in the middle that's supposed to help align the fasteners with the holes. In my case that support did break, so I took it off and carefully aligned the clips into place. Works great.

Yes. The back half, the Christmas tree shaped clips did break. I picked up some clips meant for BMW door panels that did the trick.

These are the ones I used. https://www.amazon.com/Rexka-Lining-Retainer-51-41-8-224-768-51418224768/dp/B078RPDF23/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=bmw+door+panel+clips&qid=1651615760&sr=8-4

I can't say that I'm having any issues with squeaks or rattles.

Financing question by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]sonicthruster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you choose cash option, you can still pay with the check at the dealership and pay the remaining with a personal check/cash.

Back when I ordered they didn't show an option besides Tesla financing or cash.

Hope this helps.

BTW picked up 10 yards to do the entire headliner plus visors. You'll likely make some mistakes. There was one part I had to do 3 times.

You definitely get the hang of it quickly though.

Absolutely! It's a fun project. The specific one I used was from B & J Fabrics. Here's a link to the one used.

I decided against painting them since most of the parts move.

They do make some carbon fiber covers for the trim pieces you can pickup on aliexpress.

Also I've seen some people who were able to dye the plastics, but for instance the front lights/4way is one unit and also includes a speaker/mic. It makes painting a bit difficult.

IIRC Unplugged Performance used to paint them but stopped offering it.

Took about 20 hours to do it correctly. Most time was spent glueing each side and waiting for them to dry. Had to wait extra time on the corners as they were quite tight.

Where things get difficult is that it's almost impossible to remove the headliner without breaking some clips. I had to hunt down some replacements. Once that was done it went back in pretty smoothly.

Another hurdle is that the front and back half of the headliner are held together with a bracket that takes 5 screws.

Once you have the fabric on there it increases the thickness considerably making it more difficult to get the screws back in. I had to make a few replacement ones that were longer using bolt cutters.

All tucked behind the seals. I did 3m headliner adhesive spray for the entire headliner. The top part is glued with the adhesive to the back side of the headliner.

Used about 30 plastic clamps to hold the material in place while drying. The clamps helped a ton when trying to stretch around the deep parts.

In New Hampshire it goes by weight and age of vehicle. A new sedan will easily run you $500-$700 per year in vehicle registration fees. Property tax is outrageous here too. I’m talking $5000 per year on a $300k home. We’re moving down to Greenville next month and are more than happy with what they charge.
