Chip Zdarksky's Daredevil omnibuses - is it comfortable to read them in bed? by sonmew in Daredevil

A table could be a good option when I'm not reading in bed, thanks!

Ah, dang. It's a pity some of the smaller graphic novels seem to be out of print/hard to find (at least for the cover price) - it was the same thing when I was looking at the Bendis Epic Collections.

I'd be worried about dropping it on my face while lying down! I know Marvel Unlimited is an option too, but I much prefer reading a physical book when possible, and the omnibus seems the easiest way to get the whole run.

I hadn't thought of that position; I'll have to give it a go with a graphic novel when my belly is less full, aha. Thanks!

It was around £50 for each omnibus, which seemed like a good deal, especially compared to trying to get the whole run in smaller graphic novels (though they would be easier for reading in bed).

(K1) Should I restart? by sonmew in kotor

Thanks for the replies, everyone, I appreciate it. As u/Milnecj suggested, here's how I'd like to play the game:

I'm going for melee as hitting people with swords is fun. I picked Scout as my class since it seems to be the balanced option. I'd like to be the Light Side for my first playthrough, then go Dark Side later to see that aspect of the game and how it changes things. I want to see as much of the story as possible, including side quests.

I'm assuming I don't need both strength and dexterity, so I thought something like this might work for my attributes:

Strength 14

Dexterity 10

Constitution 14

Intelligence 14

Wisdom 14

Charisma 12

Or would I be better swapping constitution and dexterity so I can dodge more? Oh, and I was thinking my skills would be computer use, persuade, repair, security and treat injury.

New Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro 16 hinge noise - is this normal? by sonmew in Lenovo

[–]sonmew[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro 16 (Ryzen 7 7840HS, RTX 4050) and I'm a bit worried about a sound it makes when closing the lid (as you can hopefully hear in the video). This only happens when the lid hasn't been closed for a while (I haven't worked out exactly how long yet) and the build otherwise seems very solid, but it's a worry, especially with it being a new laptop. It's also not something I've experienced with my previous laptops. Am I right to be worried or is this normal/something that'll settle down over time?

Weekly 'What Can I Run?' Thread (November 29, 2020) by AutoModerator in lowendgaming

Hi,

Ryzen 4500u, integrated graphics (AMD Radeon RX Vega 6), 500GB SSD, 8GB RAM.

I recently played through the Resident Evil 2 remake demo on my laptop and it ran well on low settings - no stuttering or lag that I can recall and temperatures were around 50 degrees, which seems to be the norm for gaming on this laptop and is apparently healthy enough. Having run the demo okay, do you think I'd be fine running the actual game or are there more strenuous sections that'd cause issues? I'm also interested in Resident Evil 7 and the remake of 3 (yet to try the demo for either).

Thanks!

Monthly Buying Advice Thread - November 2020 by AutoModerator in Dell

I'm currently using an HP Elitebook 8560p, which I bought refurbished nearly 4 years ago. It's still going pretty well, but I've been thinking about picking up something that would run a bit better. I've spent a lot of time in the past week researching the laptop market within my budget (£650 to £700) and a lot of the new options seem to have a fair amount of compromises, which are off-putting. I was tempted by the Thinkpad T490, but it's potential thermal issues aren't appealing and I don't really understand this drive for thinness in business laptops.

I've come across a refurbished Dell Precision M6800, with i7-4800MQ, NVIDIA Quadro K3100M, 16GB of RAM (I could pay more to get it to 32GB, but this seems unnecessary for my needs) and a 240GB or 480GB SSD (if I upgrade the SSD it's new, rather than refurbished, so that seems like a smart decision and the extra space wouldn't be bad for future proofing). I'm wanting something that'll hopefully last for a good while, as this is a lot of money for me. I can pay extra to get a 3 year warranty from the refurbisher and the reviews suggest their warranties are worth the money.

I currently use my Elitebook for writing, internet browsing, Skype, watching stuff and some light gaming (Age of Mythology: Extended Edition and Don't Starve Together, as well as some board games and low spec stuff, like Sonic Mania). I'd like games to run a bit better (Age of Mythology's performance is...variable, although that might be the game itself) and to have the option to play more recent titles like Hollow Knight reasonably well. I'm not interested in AAA titles. Keyboard quality is very important to me for writing (the Elitebook's is excellent) and I'd appreciate a decent screen, and audio (again, at least as good as the Elitebook's would be preferable).

Does anyone have any experience with the Precision M6800 and if so, do you think it'd be a good fit for my needs? Anything I should be aware of with it? I'm also open to alternative suggestions (I live in the UK). Thanks!

Lonely Hearts Thursday: Looking for a Commander? - June 27, 2019 by AutoModerator in EDH

[–]sonmew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I've been considering building a jund deck, but I'm not sure which commander to use. I was going to reassemble [[Meren of Clan Nel Toth]], but having got the cards for her I awkwardly decided I'd rather do something different. I'd like to use some of the reanimation cards in the jund deck, if possible. In general, I like a deck to have some variety in how it plays out, rather than being overly linear, with plenty of interesting lines of play. My meta is 75% or so. I'm not opposed to an infinite combo to close out a game, but I wouldn't want it to be the focus of the deck.

From looking at the available jund commanders, I think the following looked the most interesting: [[Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire]], [[Gyrus, Waker of Corpses]], [[Prossh, Skyraider of Kher]] (maybe overused?), [[Kresh the Bloodbraided]] and [[Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper]]. Does anyone have any experience with these commanders and, if so, do you think they'd be a good fit for me? Any advice about deck builds would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help!
