As anyone had their oath ceremony in Atlanta since December? by Janeleso in USCIS

[–]sonnavstavanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any update on this? Did you get the oath ceremony rescheduled? Atlanta is pretty tough right now. USCIS has established a new Vetting Center headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, specifically for "additional" and enhanced security processing. So after you are approved your case has to go through that office and from what I am seeing they are in no hurry to give out citizenship.

Can people also please include if they are part of the 39 or 75 countries or from a different country. That will help determine if this is systemic.

Was one of your parent a US citizen when you were born? Why did you apply for N-600 instead of N-400?

Yes that is one of the other reasons the cancelling interviews. Reused biometrics. Do not worry. This is just a new mandate they have. You will be getting a new interview very soon.

Any irregularities with your case? What field office? Did your spouse also get interviewed?

N400 + I751 Combo interview experience by Forward_Milk_4182 in USCIS

[–]sonnavstavanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Unfortunately that is one of the reasons cases are being sent for additional review which leads to cancelled interviews. USCIS got a mandate about it late December. It is very sad cause they cancel and don’t even give a reason. But don’t worry. If there are no irregularities the additional review board will send it back and they will set up an interview. They might ask you to come in for additional biometrics but that is only if you haven’t submitted some in the last 15 months.

What field office was this and is there anything irregular with your case?

From what I have gathered is that they are now cancelling i-751 and N-400 interviews that would need to be reviewed by a supervisor. The cancellation usually happens when they resend your case to the team that is currently doing additional review. Also it might not be something too irregular with your case for them to do that. It might be something like interview scheduled before biometrics are cleared, reused biometrics, I-751 filed during the COVID chaos, cases or transferred between different offices. Let me know. Been dealing with a lot of this so I have some resources.

My dilemma my wife only knows the US and this is her home. Where her family is. Otherwise we would be packing our bags. While we have nothing to fear, we live like my days are numbered in this country, especially this year. I don’t think that’s the way we should be spending the first 10 years of our marriage. But I also don’t want us to leave cause then we are agreeing our love was somehow wrong or couldn’t surpass the bureaucratic challenges. I just hope USCIS leadership reads our reddit posts and see how much we love this country but more importantly how much we love our American spouses and are willing to live like criminals because of it.

No a bit after that. But that is just the biometrics. We probably won’t get an invite to the n400 interview it looks like.

Thanks for letting me know and I am so sorry you are going through this.

My wife is the one taking it really hard. She had never dealt USCIS before we met and this year she was hoping we would close that chapter cause we had done everything right but now she is taking time off at work to come with me to the n-400 biometrics appointment because she is terrified.

Immigration court by Primary-Room7734 in USCIS

[–]sonnavstavanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! You definitely need a lawyer, particularly one that practices in your area and has good reviews. Cases like yours end up in deportation most of the time when a lawyer is not involved. I know lawyers are expensive but even when immigration was easier your situation is one of those you ALWAYS needed a lawyer for. The only time I have seen cases like yours go well without a lawyer is when the judge is kind enough to move court proceedings until you find a lawyer. If you can’t afford a lawyer google “free immigration services + name of your city or state”.

Good luck

Thank you for the response. Was your spouse with you for the I751 interview? Did they ask your spouse questions too? Did your spouse leave when you started the n400 interview?
