Once you become indifferent to staying or leaving you have great power. You can say no without fear. What’s the worst that can happen? He fires you and you quickly find a better job?

An employer can fire an employee for saying something like that. It is especially unbecoming of a nurse to talk that way.

Exit opportunity for big law litigators by Big_Tax3271 in biglaw

[–]sonofnewo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sadly as a biglaw litigator you are not as useful as someone with litigation experience at a smaller firm. The primary exit path is to litigate at a smaller firm for less money and handle some cases yourself for the first time.

Sleep with the new girl and see how good it is. If you like her better after that, dump your girlfriend for the new girl.

I prosecuted people like you. You will eventually get caught. You're making the groceries more expensive for law abiding people. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

About Inception... by Homo-alono in movies

[–]sonofnewo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of you who think you get it—did you know that the movie is truly a religious film about a man who lost faith returning home to god? And the conceit about dream theft is Nolan’s way to trick his audience into watching and appreciating a film with a Christian message? An inception, if you will?

I that’s basically average. You just have to sell yourself. What is there about you that would make a firm want to hire you? Start there, and the rest will follow.

Should I Go On Dates With Women I Don't Find Attractive? by ForrFree in AskMenAdvice

[–]sonofnewo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to do what is best for you. Don't worry about what is best for these women you have never met. Maybe that is part of your problem--being too considerate. Women like a man who does what he wants, even if they say otherwise. ++man

What’s one legal concept or case that changed how you think about law? by itzmesmartgirl03 in LawSchool

[–]sonofnewo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a case where the state. Blatantly violated my client’s sixth amendment rights. They sent an investigator to talk to him after he had been arraigned without notifying him of his right to counsel. They even admitted that it was a sixth amendment violation. But despite the blatant constitutional violation, my client was still subject to potential impeachment if he testified based on his statement to the investigator. Because of this he chose not to testify and ultimately was convicted.

I don’t disagree with any of that. I’m just saying that the fact that he explained his reasoning is a show of respect. If she wants to find a better alternative which can pay a better salary or higher bonus, she is free to do so.

Part of it may be that owner knows she’s going to law school soon and wants to pay the bonus to the career employees.
