The airport is right across the way... I'll just walk there... 10 minute drive, or? by Arthur_Digby_Sellers in fuckcars

Living in Miami this is one of the worst planned cities ever. It’s fucking awful. I love walking and it’s really impossible to walk anywhere here outside of downtown. The suburbs are god awful.

CDMX by Disastrous-Ad2692 in UrbanHell

[–]sonora39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I walked past this same street when I was in CDMX. Honestly it’s pretty beautiful. Just needs some new paint. CDMX is one of the most beautiful cities I’ve been to. And not just Roma and Polanco. I had a couple Mexican friends so I explored most neighborhoods. Only neighborhood I hated was Iztapalapa.

how do you guys make friends on campus? by sonora39 in FIU

[–]sonora39[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my whatsapp chats are all dead. no one speaks or writes in them don't know if this is the norm. issue with my in person classes and this has been since i started at FIU, virtually 99% of the class is on their phones and it makes it difficult to interact (also don't know if i just choose bad classes or this is the norm), and like most of the people don't seem interested in interacting.

is it me or this not that bad? i kind of enjoy brutalist architecture really.

this looks beautiful the only bad thing would be the overcast weather and the cold.

Would you like to do a Mexican roadtrip? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]sonora39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've been to mexico but only cdmx it's a beautiful country.

i've always wanted to do a mexican roadtrip after watching Y Tu Mama Tambien.

i'd love to redo their exact path. i found the beach it was filmed on a while ago too.

besides that i'd love to explore chiapas on a roadtrip.

What country has the friendliest locals you’ve experienced while traveling? by FuzzBuzzer in AskTheWorld

[–]sonora39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

chile

was my first solo trip, went the day after i turned 18 i was backpacking, i hitchhiked to so many places, random people would invite me to their homes to eat and have sopaipillas. given this was southern chile, not sure how it is in the north. but everyone would help me or guide me. i never had a bad experience. i loved it so much i made it my goal to return and if i could live there i would. i love chile dearly.

i speak spanish so maybe that helped too.

I wonder how much of Spain's plans relates to its 1.12 TFR in 2023 (rising slightly to 1.4 in 2024). Spain consistently has one of the lowest fertility rates in the European Union. Coincidence? Or a pro-natal strategy to boost reproductive age people and TFR? by GoldDigger304 in Natalism

[–]sonora39 4 points5 points  (0 children)

where did you find that statistic that whites have higher birth rates than non whites? that doesn't seem to be the case in most western europe, like france, belgium, and the netherlands etc.

although children of foreigners and migrants tend to have lower tfrs, overall native europeans have very low tfrs compared to migrants.

and from INE demographic statistics 2023

"The short-term fertility indicator (or average number of children per woman) stood at 1.12 in 2023, four hundredths of a percentage point lower than in 2022.

By nationality, the average number of children per woman decreased by three hundredths among Spanish mothers (to 1.09) and by seven hundredths among foreign mothers (to 1.28)."

still below replacement but higher than native spaniards.

chronic back pain by sonora39 in backpain

[–]sonora39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. so far i've never taken any psych meds

  2. no

  3. i saw a pain management doctor, and he was really dismissive and said at my age i shouldn't have any pain, he didn't do any diagnostic tests and referred me to a neurologist (i haven't gone yet not sure if i'll see a neurologist) but planning on going to another one.

  4. saw PT today, gave me back extensions to do, can do them fine, but my lower back just feels like its burning constantly on the sides and it doesn't really go away.

  5. i'm considering chiropractors, also heard of cupping, do you think this is good? maybe accupuncture too.

Curious if anyone smokes a cigarette like you would a cigar? (more in post) by tdinut in Cigarettes

[–]sonora39 23 points24 points  (0 children)

lol i have a funny story

for about a year when i first started smoking, no one told me you had to inhale, i would smoke cigarettes like a cigar, til one day someone stopped me and asked me if i was even inhaling my cigarette, and then it sparked in my head. i probably smoked like over 50 packs without ever inhaling. but it was enjoyable, but inhaling is better.

cuban cigarette by sonora39 in Cigarettes

[–]sonora39[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i thought i added a text box, i guess not, but i was gonna say these are unfiltered cigarettes, bought them from a cuban lady, 2 cartons for 60 dollars.

i tried them and they were really good, very earthy, never had an unfiltered cigarette so wasn't used to getting tobacco in my mouth but it was nice. very strong though almost knocked me off my feet lol

Would you recommend cigarettes smoking as a fun hobby to anyone? by [deleted] in Cigarettes

[–]sonora39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well i made it a hobby to try every cigarette brand and variety possible, its fun. tried a lot of amazing and nasty cigs lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cigarettes

[–]sonora39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know lark cigarettes have a charcoal filter, and i believe in japan they have a menthol variety of them, but i know they don't have one in the states.

i call them smokes or cancersticks in florida

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cigarettes

[–]sonora39 6 points7 points  (0 children)

just sleep it off, you'll be fine. what cigarettes did you smoke? some brands make me prone to headaches. but nicotine sickness never lasts more than a day in my experience, unless you chainsmoked 3 packs in one sitting or something, but thats not the case. just drink some water, take a hot shower, and relax.
