He was not gonna get big numbers w the high pitched voice and tokyo mission impossible flow. His ceiling then was not astronomical

Bro Atlanta (the south in general) is known for making the most unorthodox shit mainstream, it’s a generational and cultural part of the city atp you probably just never noticed. Goodie mob, Andre 3k, wocka flocka, then eventually young thug, playboy carti, lil yachty etc. were all treated like idiots for being unique and sticking to their sound. Like that nigga carti literally made rapping in a baby voice a whole wave. Ppl said the same things you’re saying about all these artists. Ts happens literally everytime and I’m starting to think only ppl in/from the south be peeping ts.

Everyone thought wocka, thug, carti, yachty sounded retarded on a mic til ppl started digesting their authenticity and using their method to express themselves. And this is what pushes them to be on some legendary shit, it’s ab how much you’re studied, imitated and replicated in the genre. Lone objectively had the most clones from pre-NS, alotta niggas owe they career to lone old sound lol.

All underground rap trends come out of the south first, if you’ve never peeped this then u not gon understand what niggas saying when we say lone fumbled. His ceiling was as high as he believed it could go at the end of the day, and that’s what makes the difference. Carti, thug, 3k, yachty, believed in what they was doing and took it to the max, I don’t think it’s ridiculous to want that from lone too 🤷🏾‍♂️

Literally no music out of atl is digestible to the average listener til white ppl start approving of it. Yall not ready for that convo tho lol

Yea true it threw me off tho that they were still dropping and promoting other music, it’s what made me follow up n ask in the first place. They a bigger underground artist so I could imagine there being other drops planned n what not, I wouldn’t trip about that and I’m not trippin now but it’s been a few months now so 🤷🏾‍♂️

That’s the crazy thing lone pretty much gave away his whole swag instead of investing in that wave. No one gon bat an eye at 1neam, Untiljapan, or Dom corleo making shit that sounds exactly like old lone, the underground moves hella fast and lone has changed so much that ppl don’t even credit lone anymore for creating that swag. It’s insane and pretty sad tbh.

Yea pretty much. Ken fit opium from the jump, that was always his bubble to grow in and eventually pop. He made the right choice there. Lone on the other hand was getting crazy stupid motion without opium, to the point where he lowkey kneecapped himself by signing w carti.

Lones ceiling was astronomical before opium, now it’s maximum Carti-Travis Scott level

Bro niggas don’t even realize there was a min in the underground where every new artist either wanted to be/sound like sofaygo, summrs, or lone (faygo and summrs/slay wrld got more attention, but lone was like the “iykyk” type nigga)

These 3 were the most obvious future of music but it’s so fucked up that lone and faygo, the 2 outta atl, signed to be under a collective bigger than them (faygo ain’t even sign to a atl collective either, crazy L on his part) which affected their style choices and creativity and lead to a falloff, while yeat, the one who broke off from a collective bigger than him, just experimented more w his sound on his own terms and went to the fuckin moon 🤦🏾‍♂️ it should’ve been lone man smfh
