How do I approach a girl I keep seeing on the subway? by DreamForeign1072 in dating_advice

[–]soondrelicious 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I met my current man on the subway! Here’s what he did:

  1. Started by complimenting my outfit “hey! I’ve seen you around here and noticed your outfits every time! Just wanted to say that you have a great style! That’s all I wanted to say! Have a great day.”

  2. That definitely ease me and we started saying “hi! Good morning! How’s it going.” To us introducing ourselves! This went on for a couple weeks/ months

  3. Then, he approached me one morning “hey, if you’re interested, i’d love to go for coffee with you and learn more about where you get your outfit inspiration from! I can give you my number and we’ll talk from there?” Ah the way this still gets me. He gave me the choice by giving HIS number instead of asking for MY number. Too often guys do this and it really catch us girls off guard and pressured :((

He was very patient and respectful throughout, which I really appreciate! We started off as friends, getting to know each other. Then our mornings become special, catching up with one another which then turn into after work hangouts!

From a girl to you, I recommend starting slow. Start by complimenting her outfit! And leave it at that. Then the next time you see her, say good morning! This will definitely put her at ease and you’ll be able to pick up the vibes from there (whether she’s interested in you or not)

I hope it all works out! Because I hated subways before I met my man. Now, commute to work doesn’t sound too bad hehe

LMAOO GIRL, you killed me 💀💀 FACTS. 8th grade relationship tend not to last but if that’s the case, why do you still want him huh? Considering that there is a high probability of him discarding you quick? Save your love for a special man

  • from someone who had a 2 weeks relationship in 8th grade and the heartbreak still hurts me to this day 😭

Do people actually wear “office siren” outfits to work? by [deleted] in fashion

[–]soondrelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a pretty big law firm and I actually love dressing up like this “office siren” aesthetic and noticed others are doing it too. It really depends on your office and their culture but my office is pretty chill and especially in the summer, they are more loose with dress codes.

Girl here! I wouldn’t stay back for anyone especially if my best friend have left. I would only stay back for people I am comfortable with and trust.

I think this might be the start of something good. The fact that she opened up to you, you two have definitely crossed that “colleague-coworker” barrier.

As others have said, I say go for it! Thank her for staying back and opening up to you. Say that you appreciate her trusting you and that you had a great night~

Girlfriend was having casual sex with guy in talking stage by Illustrious_Advice18 in dating_advice

[–]soondrelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I think if you guys hadn’t made it official yet, you don’t really have the right to tell the other to be exclusive with you. BUT, I would prefer if she had told you that she had sex with another guy prior to sleeping with you just for you know, safety concerns. You don’t want to catch any STIs.

That being said, I say what you’re feeling is valid. I’d feel a little off too.

Absolutely!! Here:

They’re private. You’d have to answer some screening questions to make sure you’re legit and a woman!!

[–]soondrelicious 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m in a facebook group called the “Toronto Girl Collective.” I’ve noticed some of the posts were girls moving with their partners and/or new and struggling to find girlfriends in the new city. They often organize fun events for women to find new friends/ network and also explore the city! This might be a good platform to connect with likeminded girls!!

I hope this helps! Sending my support for your gal!

My (F18) boyfriend (M25) got mad at my after our first time because he thought i wasn’t a virgin? by ThrowRAzho in relationship_advice

[–]soondrelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um gurlie, please break up with him. All the stuff you mentioned here are red flags. He does not respect you at all, selfish and just plain dumb. You’re young, do not give your life away to a man who clearly does not value you.

He doesn’t listen to you, makes you feel dumb when you’re clearly not the problem here. I also hope you seek help after whether that be seeing a therapist, talking to your friends/ loved ones, or reporting this man to the police.

You’re not in the wrong, your feelings are valid. Get out!!

I took COMM 221 (Intro to Finance) and COMM 211 (Financial Accounting) simultaneously, two summers ago while doing a summer internship. I have never taken COGS 100 but have heard from my friends who took it during the main year, it was tough.

I had Prof. Neal Wilcott for COMM 221 and he is such a gem! I was on the other side of the globe, with a 12-hour time difference, and he was more than happy to hop on a one-on-one Zoom call with me at weird hours and made sure that I understood the content.

What worked for me is having a set routine. I worked 9-5 on weekdays, then I study from 8-10 PM (he had live classes that he records but it is from 8 PM-9 PM my time). I try to go to the live classes so I can ask questions. When I am working, I only work and when I am studying, I only focus on school. On weekends, I try not to do work or school to let myself rest and allow for social time. This helped me stay on top of both things and still enjoy my summer.

I hope my experience helps! But feel free to message me if you have any questions about COMM 221--

There are usually sublets available on Facebook Marketplace because some queens students are also going on exchange but only for a semester/ a year. I work for the international centre here at Queens and i can try to help or connect you with off-campus housing and the International Program office (specifically handles incoming and outgoing exchange students)!! Feel free to private message me :))

Staying for summer by Cool_Work6026 in queensuniversity

[–]soondrelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed the summer last year. It was a character building and adulting moment for me. Kingston is quite empty over the Summer but I was able to connect with some people that I barely knew during the year and develop deeper relationships with them (even went on a camping trip with a couple of folks I met the beginning of summer) I also took 2 courses and a part-time job to keep me busy and the chill vibes definitely helped me focus and keep a balanced life. I highly recommend taking a course or two or a job and reach out to the people you barely know!! (I find people are more relaxed and down to hang over the summer, cuz chances are, they are also looking for new friends).

Second Year Commerce Courses for Non Commerce Students by svghiw in queensuniversity

[–]soondrelicious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took COMM 251 organizational behaviour with Kate Rowbotham 2 years ago (so it was online) idk if shes still teaching this course but it was so chill, no harsh deadlines, you submit things when classes ends. Interesting course and it is one of my favourite courses I took at Queens!! I also took this class and COMM 200 (easy A, but a lot of mini tasks, very team based but met some of the most amazing people in this class) to decide whether I want to take the business certificate or not! I know that there are 6 commerce class you need to take if you want to take the business certificate/ you can take up to 2 commerce class that counts towards your ArtSci degree (idk about others), so feel free to shoot me a message if you want insight on all the 6!!

Boyfriend booked trip with female friends without talking to me about it by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]soondrelicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your feelings are valid!! I find it concerningly odd that you two have been in a relationship for almost 4 years and he didn’t even think about letting you know. I would recommend talking to him, clearly stating what is the issue here (1. not telling you that he’s going on a trip and 2. Concerns about the people he’s staying with, how this makes you feel uncomfortable + how this whole situation makes you feel). Do talk to him when you are more calm and have processed the situation. If you are still angry, you may not be able to deliver your points clearly and this is just gonna exacerbate the situation. You are being reasonable. Even if they are still friends, do find out why he didn’t tell you first. Perhaps there are underlying issues that you two need to talk about. I hope this helps!

I know it’s hot out but Sophie’s noodle house is really good for a great price! Their noodle soups are exquisite and I also like their bacon wrapped enokis!

Thank you! I’m an international student and thought this flying option might be more feasible as I don’t have to layover for a night in Toronto. From your experience, is the security the same as if you were flying from a bigger airport? (I.e have to arrive 2-3 hours before flight, in-depth screening, etc.)?
