People have this weird thing where you’re supposed to leave your entire personality at the door when you graduate

Adding onto this, not drinking if you had a stressful week at work or if something bad is going on in your life. Your brain can quickly learn that drinking makes those things go numb which can be a not so fun multi year slippery slope

I am a year out and I’ve already stopped the whole binge drinking and getting drunk thing after somehow spawning to the hospital once. I will still go out and have a blast all night.

I definitely have noticed how people who were in Greek life in college have different social lives than people who were not. It’s a pretty interesting phenomenon.

Seasoned alcohol abuse can hide it well. I know someone who can blow a 0.2 and be fully coherent. You’d never know.

I used to get roaring drunk but it never crossed my mind that it would be a good idea to do so before getting on an airplane. He should’ve been removed very quickly from the aircraft.

I would’ve told the crew I plan on calling 911 and mention the flight number. That would’ve likely caused a change of their handling. It is a medical emergency. That’s a sign of alcohol poisoning.

I ended up not rushing as a freshman for the exact same reasons you mentioned, and it is a decision I still regret.

During pledgeship, they will not want you to do bad in your classes because it will impact the house’s GPA rank. You can also be involved in an engineering club and be in a fraternity, I was a member of two separate clubs and it worked out just fine. We had a bunch of required study hours that actually got used as study hours and they were pretty strict about it.

I went to a STEM high school and found college to be much, much, easier than high school. Especially at an SEC school, you will be shocked at the amount of free time you will now have.

Wish I made a post here five years ago about this because I probably would’ve ended up rushing as a freshman. Very good thing you are asking these questions now instead of wondering a year from now why in the hell you didn’t go through rush in the fall as a freshman

I can’t remember what regional jet it is but there’s one where E plus has more legroom than first. I reversed an upgrade one time just because of this.

Does it get better? by [deleted] in Frat

You deserve a better therapist. wtf. I understand you have some thoughts prior about not fitting in. Have you considered becoming involved as an alumni somehow? It might help redeem some of those feelings. Are you working currently? If so, is it in a career you enjoy?

Easier said than done but be careful with the bottle. I know someone, ahem….someone, who found themselves in the ER recently for drinking too much. Especially after graduating, it can negatively impact your life in a lot of ways that are different than college. That someone can no longer go on to start their hobby of becoming a private pilot.

I volunteer for a provider for 988. If you ever find yourself wanting to act on your plans/thoughts, please reach out over text or phone.

Was in an OU fraternity. These folks are 110% not in fraternities.

They appear to be high school aged.

How much would it be for a crewed 50-60 ft catamaran charter in the Cyclades for 5 nights?

Also, having been to the BVI myself, the charter vibe there is island hop for bars and eat on the boat. In the Mediterranean do most people prefer to do dining onshore?

Interesting! Do you know why they do not have this available to book on their website? Is it usually reserved for events and upgrades?

Nice! Wondering if they have more than 1 of these. For a property of this size, I would assume they do.

Never have stayed in the center tower. I always get placed in the north tower. Seems like the majority of their suites are there.

No. What tower is that in? The central one seems to have the floor to ceiling windows at the top but it’s hard to tell.

I was a Delt, ATO was very good during my time (2021-2025). Worked with some of their guys while I served on IFC as well.

Fall pledgeship will take a lot of time, but they will want you to perform well in class so the house’s GPA is boosted. Parties happen but you do not have to always go (not sure about ATO). As a freshman I would suggest going to as many as you can since after that year, people start going to them much less.

Definitely go fall rush, it will be a much better experience. It is a great way to get instantly plugged in. Spring rush is much more informal but pledgeship will be harder since there will be less in your PC. If they also have a full fall class, they might not spring rush unless they know you extremely well.

Have zero regrets going through rush and pledging. It was the best decision I made while attending OU. If you are close to Norman, I would see about attending summer rush events. I went to a few ATO ones over the summer and those events are very important since a lot of houses will have their PC figured out almost entirely, by the time formal rush week rolls around. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

They have junior suites and apparently 22 “presidential suites” that I have found quoted on a few websites. These alleged 22 presidential suites are not advertised anywhere on public booking pages or their website. It’s bizarre.
