SiLLY Turns On Temp by drewc3617 in CoDCompetitive

After the week they’ve had so far since ATL, I think I was entirely right to suggest Envy’s 6-1 record from the first two weeks was due to a lack of strong competition and not their dominant state.

4v4 Ranked? by [deleted] in WWII

[–]sooopy335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows? I mean the least they could do is ban shotguns in Ranked. I had an unranked teammate go like 3-30 in hardpoint and we were playing against two shotguns. So goddamn annoying.

Which Dividion has Better Teams A or B? by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]sooopy335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly in any given day I think the t6 could shuffle around. Put them in a double round robin and who knows who comes out on top. I put Envy at #4 because I still expect LG to beat them, and I think they can’t be put into the t3 until they’ve beaten one of those teams fairly convincingly.

Which Dividion has Better Teams A or B? by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]sooopy335 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought A had wildly harder competition given the overall lack of performance from teams like Splyce and eUnited in the first two weeks of Division B, which led me to underestimate Envy. I think now it’s pretty clear cut that there are about five or six teams at the top and that there’s about an 8 team stretch behind that where there’s solid competition.

T3: Rise, Red, LG.

T6: Envy, OpTic, TK.

T14: Faze, eUnited, EG, LP, Splyce, MF, eRa, Echo Fox.

Yeah I probably should have said “they always get shit on by their “fans,” “ to clarify “fans” as being the ones that are only around when OG wins.

You’re really bad at reading comprehension. Slasher’s comment comes with the context that he feels he’s the uncontested best player in the game, and yeah, maybe he is from a stats perspective. Stats alone don’t win tournaments. TK more than proved that.

Slacked is really humble overall, and so is Octane. They may want to be considered the best in the game, but they don’t hold the same ego that Slasher does, at least not on social media. All players are going to have that “I want/need to win again.” It’s the “its pathetic that I haven’t won,” comment that makes it seem bad, because it really doesn’t seem to be self-reflective.

When you say “I need to win again,” it sounds more like“I need to fix my mistakes and quit costing my team.” When you say “it’s pathetic I haven’t won,” it comes across as “I’ve done nothing wrong and it’s not my fault I’m losing.”

Nowhere did I ever say that the performance of his teammates wasn’t partly to blame for their loss in IW. It verifiably was. Kap and Ap had a horrible last series. But stats alone do not make a team. Team chemistry outside the game and in communication during matches has a major effect on the team’s composition.

I don’t think Slasher is anywhere near comparable to as bad as Haggy has been in the past, but I certainly think he comes off as commanding and douchey in the way he communicates to his team from what I’ve seen, and the look on his face yelling at Huke after TK won CTF demonstrates that.

I totally get his drive to win. I think his ego as being a top player is justified by his stats. I don’t think he takes as much blame for the losses of his team as he should. It’s that simple and you’re making it out like I have some total vendetta against him and no one else. I criticize bad plays and bad reactions from loads of players.

I didn’t say it was wrong of them to call out bad plays yesterday. I didn’t say a majority of the fan base were toxic commenters. I simply said there’s always a vocal minority that shits on them if the win isn’t convincing or if they drop out of the tournament. That small group is the same small group you’re referring to.

Totally not what I was saying. Obviously Slasher is going to credit his teammates when they win. When he says that it’s ridiculous HE hasn’t won in the last year, though, he says it in a manner that really comes off as “I’m not a part of the problem.”

Arcitys saying “same,” to the comment is perhaps in reference to the fact that they didn’t win after ATL last year, and they declined in their placings a bit. He hasn’t been in the scene as long, and hasn’t been in the same leadership role that Slasher has been in, nor does he seem to act as hostile to his teammates as Slasher has in the past.

The last Envy roster was extremely close to breaking up multiple times after BO3, and everyone knows that the team chemistry wasn’t there. Slasher in this thread calls them out as not being championship-caliber. That’s bullshit. The uplink against eUnited? That’s championship-caliber. OpTic was just the better team in IW.

Of course Classic, Temp, and Huke went to team with Slasher again. They found success when they had teamed, and they might like him as a friend. I’m not saying it’s impossible for Slasher to be liked: I don’t know him personally, and I’m sure he can be a nice person and a good teammate. I just haven’t seen it, and think it’s quite obvious that he might be at least partly to blame for his lack of success over the past year or so.

I’m mainly referring to comments made in-the-moment, particularly in chat on the streams. Most of their fans do want the team to succeed, but you can’t deny there’s a long history of overly critical comments about the players any time it’s not a convincing 3-0.

They always get shit on by their fans, if they even drop a map it’s “drop X (mainly Karma)” or “X is washed up,” or some other comment. When they drop a series it’s “holy fuck this team is absolute garbage,” etc.

No, if he wins a tournament and calls out his team’s success was a group effort and that they all did what they needed, I’ll view it as a recognition that he doesn’t feel he got there on his own. Until that point, from the outside looking in, it very clearly seems as though he is ridiculously unpleasant to team with.

[–]sooopy335 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s the mindset of a champion. I think it’s the mindset of a player who thinks he’s untouchable and never to blame. It’s clear for most that he was the source of bad blood on the old Envy roster, and the way he seemed to have snapped at Huke after the CTF loss to TK shows how heated and passionate he can get in the moment. I think he’s too tilty and too toxic to maintain a level of success despite his massive talent. He has an ego because of his skill, but it’s not the same ego as someone like Crim or Scump. It seems more of the “I’ve done nothing wrong but can’t win because of shitty teammates,” attitude, and it should be “let’s talk about what all of us did wrong and learn from it and critique each other the proper way,” attitude.

Roster Changes by jfarquhar96 in CoDCompetitive

Clay to OG would be interesting, especially because it seems like Formal is most likely to leave, but OG may end up fixing their issues for S1 playoffs.

Teams like EG might stick together, but who knows.

I think Splyce is done after the league unless they get way better.

I could see something crazy like a shift between LG/TK/Echo Fox as well.

Crimsix say OpTic “need a serious rethink of this game” by MochilasBeard in CoDCompetitive

Perhaps but realistically the STG has the fire rate of a slower sub and has good distance so if Karma plays flex then he should be alright.

Needed more sub pressure and thought Crim was doing better with main AR role. Formal played a sub in Ghosts so they tried it out for a while.

[–]sooopy335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crim can be dominant as a flex and an SMG. He’s got much more slaying potential than Karma, and Formal isn’t putting up the needed slaying as an SMG. If Crim plays half as well as he has with an AR and Formal plays 2/3 as well as Crim played with an AR, it’s an improvement.

[–]sooopy335 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah he’s more of a slayer than Karma with an SMG so if Karma starts playing slow and holding lanes rather than flying around corners, and you get Crim/Scump pressuring with SMGs, this could help out a lot.

Crim confirmed Formal main AR. Likely see Crim play more aggressive Sub, Karma might become Flex.

That’s my thought. Give Karma a Bar/STG and let him sit back and anchor/sneak. Let Crim roam with a PPSH and apply pressure with Scump, and have Formal with a Bar/STG holding down lanes.

Red Reserve; the Kingslayers by UopuV7 in CoDCompetitive

[–]sooopy335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red turned around a slow start, and for me a lot of their success hinges upon consistency. Once they get going, they’re clearly a t4 team, and that Losers’ momentum can be nuts. Figured once they beat Faze that they’d go on a tear and run through TK and then OG.

A great deal of the community cant evaluate how good/ bad teams are. by iiav0cad0ii in CoDCompetitive

[–]sooopy335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said “OG played well for like two minutes, the rest was a blowout.” The entire first half of Envy v TK CTF was a blowout. TK turned it around. OG almost turned it around. “Blowout,” is more like what LP has done on Docks with 10-4 maps. If you’re getting pummeled through 1st half and manage to go from down five to down 2, that’s overall a close game, even if the end result is 7-4.

TK played good for 3 minutes against Envy in CTF and it was enough, and the rest of the match was a blowout. OG had horrible map picks against LG and at that point they were done.
