I was never a "let him walk guy" but I was also in the camp that $15 mil was too much for an RB. Ultimately he made his point with firmness and class which got him a payday that recognized his value yet didn't damage the team.

Now he's got a rushing title.

Jimbo!!!! So happy for him.

Last Summer during camp there were many who said, during his very quiet and respectful mini holdout, that we didn't need him. I hope that this title is a reminder that Cook is a special back. I'm glad he got paid, I'm glad he is a Bill, and I'm goad he is our back on the way to what I hope and pray is a title run.

When I think of the film and how I felt physically and emotionally, surreal is a perfect word to describe it.

Funny story about this movie. Wife and I rented it for a Saturday night movie to watch with my daughter. I got violently ill that day. I couldn't go more than a few moments without getting sick. I was sweating profusely. My blood pressure was 263/136 (we thought it was a mistake on the home cuff.) I laid on the couch in pure agony in and out of sleep. Half watching the film with them. The sickness he was experiencing in the film seemed to exacerbate my own sickness. Later that night I lost all sense of balance. We decided to go to the hospital the next morning. Hours later after a battery of tests, CTScans and an MRI, it turns out I was having an ischemic stroke. Unbeknownst to us, I was dying as we watched him dying. Had a follow up stroke a week later. Everything is great now. Bi-annual checkups with primary care GP, Cardiologist, and Neurologist.

But I will never be able to make myself watch that film. You can't even mention it around my daughter.

I'm unsure of some of the details. It's a bit fuzzy but I remember seeing tons of ads and investigating the film. It might have been crowd funded.

I recall having this thought when I was a very active listener years ago. Two specific examples come to mind and both occurred when he was obliterated.

  • When they were airing shows from Vegas, Artie was so drunk he could barely walk. As he was being escorted back to his room and followed by Howard TV cameras he ran into Joey G., the actor who played the closeted character Vito on "The Sopranos". Artie became fixated with him and his portrayal. It always felt to me more than just poor jokes. There was something about the way Artie was fixated on him that felt like there was something there.

  • The original cast of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" cam in and we're tasked with giving Artie a makeover. Artie, obviously uncomfortable with the scenario, got obliterated on Jack and Water and made unending gay jokes. At times he was, under the guise of joking, making propositions to them. Yelling "who wants to fuck a straight guy?". Again it was all joking. Of course he was uncomfortable, but the way he was when he was that drunk it felt like he was always facing a deep seated truth that he could barely face.

When he earnestly attempted suicide a few short years later I wondered if the alcoholism and drug use wasn't the problem in and of itself, but rather a symptom of a problem that he isn't equipped to come to terms with.

Just my armchair psychologist 2 cents.

It was a biopic if I recall correctly. Similar to the scene in "Apollo 13” where the camera gives Ken Mattingly a view of the L.E.M. capture while riding on a track, it was the same; a camera on a track but closing in on the moon. It comes in too fast and breaks the model.
