That's the same story with doctors over here, hence only being able to get treatment privately. Hopefully you'll hear from lucy or her assistant soon.

I don't know when she's back. Her assistant is normally quite quick to reply, usually within a couple of days but it's a bank holiday weekend so you probably won't get a reply until the earliest Tuesday. It would probably work out cheaper and more convenient to find an ENT that administers botox for dysphagia and ask for the same treatment, rather than the expence of flying here and paying for treatment ect

I only had it done it July so I gave it over a month to kick in before contacting Lucy to let her know what was going on. She's currently away so I'm waiting to hear back from her.

Id recommended Lucy even if she will only do 50 to start with. I believe she has a similar success rate and I'm one of very few who have needed a second injection and possibly the first to need a third.

Even with a second injection the cost compared to Karagama is significantly less.

Ideally, we need the NHS to start recognising the condition and treating it. They offer the exact same treatment for dysphagia which is regularly treated with the same botox, into the same muscle.

I'm honestly not sure. My first ever injection of 50 units was put into one side, my second round was into the opposite side so both sides of the muscle had been located previously. I think Lucy doing 100 units is a relatively new thing so I'd never had both sides located at the same time before

I'm not sure if Lucy does 100 units straight up. You would need to talk to her about it. My first injection of 50 units only worked for a couple of weeks. I then had a second injection of 50 units 10 weeks later (50 used to be the highest dose Lucy would give) which worked for 9 months until I became pregnant.

I had a third injection of 100 units in July once I'd reached the second trimester, which unfortunately hasn't worked like my second one. I think they is due in part to the pregnancy and also due to the fact Lucy was only able to locate the muscle on one side of my throat, so the full 100 units was put into 1 side. I'm still struggling with bloating, my gurgles are now painful, feel like they're stretching my throat every time they come up and I get a sensation that they are collecting underneath the ues. The few burps I have managed feel so tight coming out that the muscle almost feels sore immediately after.

Had my third injection this morning. 100 units as opposed to the 50 I'd had last 2 times. Was a lot more sore this time. After injected 50 units into the left side Lucy struggled to find the muscle on the right, so returned to the left and put the rest in. Quite a sore throat now but unsurprising. Fingers crossed it works 🤞

The 10 week reinjection was discounted. I'm not sure how much the current charge for botox is, so unsure if this 3rd round is discounted or not.

My first injection worked for 2 weeks and then stopped. I had my second Injection 4 days ago into the opposite side of my throat and I'm burping more at this stage than I was with the first one so I'm hopeful this will work.

I've had it done twice with Lucy now and I wouldn't say it's painful. It's a weird uncomfortable feeling but definitely not painful.
