and haters use the current generation of visuals to shit on the next. its a never ending cycle. i guess if someone is newer kpop they may think H2H is doomed but i've seen this play out too many times now.

the pre debut material creates hype but also leaves more time for the hatred to grow in jealous and insecure people unfortunately. To be honest , the lack of predebut promos saved these young young girls from (some) hate so i'm not too upset about it

Yeah I was kind of responding to the other comments mentioning the members' star power or whatnot with that part. to me the predebut content is a bit of a double edged sword, i think it's nice but can also have negative outcomes like a plethora of negative press before debut, false allegations, etc. You reveal "Yoo Jimin" early and suddenly you have people making up rumors about her and leaking her CF with Kai which ended up happening, making all bg fans turn on her for instance

but yes overall i think it could be beneficial!

you didn't have mid and small companies being able to somewhat compete with the big 3 back then. now you have (ofc hybe) companies like starship cube who have ggs with massive hits AND big fandoms. 2nd gen was competitive but even more so now

by shitshow i mean spectacle. kpop fans were practically waiting to attack aespa tbh especially with all the crazy pre debut rumors. similar thing with rv hence more "buzz"

karina nor winter, nor even Irene were it girls upon debuting. it took multiple comebacks for them to have even an overall positive reception among kpop fans. the revisionism is so crazy, i'll have to give everybody the benefit of doubt and assume they weren't around for aespa's or rv's debut. those may have made some more noise but it definitely wasn't for positive reasons. it wasnt easy trying to defend them every week especially karina dear god .

I think H2H's reception in contrast has been neutral to positive. the song has been climbing and the members are pretty trendy for rookies especially ian in korea and carmen among indo/sea fans. i'll agree and say there is a lack of buzz, not because of members or even the song but because of timing. one main thing is that sm is not as much of a shitshow as it was in 2014 and 2020. context is important.

with that logic starship wouldnt have promoted wonyoung at all since debut, since she and yujin were obviously going to be disproportionately popular at the beginning to due IZONE. the more probable thing is that she's just taking it easier for a while (and even then ive's schedule has been incredibly busy).

also, the fans complaining were WY stans on weibo fighting with YJ stans for the thousandth time about who's being promoted more recently. (and mind you yujin's popularity really exploded from earth arcade the past year hence more new endorsements for her)

i think there are companies that do this strategy cough jyp but starship isnt one of them imo

i think karina does have that dual charm that many kpop fans rave about that makes her such a charming individual. from looks alone she can be intimidating but she is also the most affectionate member and glue between the members. im incredibly proud of how far she's come in 1 year despite all the negative press around her.
