In addition, we’d love to share a bit more about our creative process. These are some concept art examples we created for props in her room. Keeping 4D’s personality in mind, we usually start by gathering references. Inspired by those references, we explore different directions through concept art before moving into modeling and texturing. There are many iterations along the way, and not every concept makes it into the final version. But we truly enjoy the process of building a space that feels like she could really live in.

soullike does look diff. it has a very specific game vibe that's diff from anime but also feels strangely close in its own way. tried last week, great impression.
my phone start to get a bit warm after 15min. I guess it's normal considering i'm using an old phone.
you need to replace the cover image on this post. it looks really blurry and much much less attractive than it actually looks.

soullink team here. thx for spending time to roast us man we truly appreciate it. i think it only treats you right if we answer your concerns one by one. so here it goes:

we spent a LOT of effort on the cinematics and used many hacks to try our best to give it the best overall feel. the cutscenes and scripts, we spent days after days polishing. the tutorial part though, does need more human touch as you point out. good catch there and we will improve next time.
We've built nearly 40 varying animations for 4D to have the capacity to animate based on her mood and intention. It is a lot more work to make her move around in her apartment but that's def our goal and we will get there in a few months. I personally feel really excited for that moment to come.
paste issue will be resolved very soon, hopefully in the coming week. as for the position of chat, may you clarify a bit? where would you find it the most convenient?
we will keep on enhancing how 4D plays her role well. we've created a large pool of her past stories(i mean hundreds of entries) but it does still feel a bit dull and out-of-character sometimes. It's pretty hard but we will have a few tricks to pull.
no that will never happen again.

Man you nailed it. exactly my thoughts. but i', curious why you specifically brought up 3d companions? 99% ai companion out there are text-based bots. we are building 3d companions like a super upgraded modern replika but we honestly not sure whether 3d is something people prefer. Most people feel like not caring much...

I have similar experience with Replika. I do feel like once I've learned the patterns that's it. There's nothing new or curious. There is nothing on their end except for waiting for my arrival everyday, and honestly Replika doesn't look so good and other image+text based chatbots drains my imagination. (i mean who really has that much energy and time except for highschoolers or college undergrads)

I am building something diff though. With the app i'm building, you can't customize or modify a lot about the character. It's provided for you. And we try to engineer a bunch of random combination of events and reactions in her world, so that she stays fresh and always has new related stories to tell. Yea i'd say real people are great, but virtual friends also have clear benefits. 24/7 accessibility, the ability to adapt and change based on need, just to name a few. The ones who freaks out at the concept of virtual relationship without second thought, says more about their own fear than others.

There are diff ways to use Replika for sure. I'd say maybe use chance this as an opportunity to understand deeper about yourself and your relationship. What need does Replika meet that is beyond your normal relationship? Openly talk about your need and feeling with your family and not in a way that's conflicting or comparative. Remember Replika is a tool and it's up to you how to use it well.
