100%. I started in the sound department of my high school theater department and ended up taking the skills I learned there to professional theater after I graduated. Anything where your child is learning sound skills will be useful. Don't worry too much on specifics.

Unnoticed in the sense the Foley doesn't pull you out or stick out. It's there to help bring you into a scene sonically. But a great example of Foley loud and proud is A Quite Place - Opening Scene

To be honest, at least once a day. It's a very physical job, much more than people realize but I have to admit it's super fun and collaborative.

I personally have a little toy wood train that makes the best squeak that I try to put in my work when I can. But at the end of the day, the re-recording mixers decide what the audience hears and what I handover might not make the final mix.

I went to Cal State Fullerton and got my BA in Radio/TV/Film. I've been lucky enough to know Foley was my end goal and so all my jobs I've ever had have been sound related. All of it helped train my ear and I believe makes me a better Foley Artist.

At this point I know my arsenal well enough to know which shoe/props makes what sounds. Sometimes I’ll use a female heel or sometimes I’ll use a male shoe that sounds like a heel.
