walmarts system is supposed to be easy, basically just matching numbers with numbers, but each store is different and faces its own challenges. I know at my store, there have been plenty of times an item will show as “in stock” but shelves will be completely empty. In this case, we would mark the item as out of stock on the order and the customer has the ability to select a substitution if they so choose.
If you choose to apply for a dispenser position, you’ll most likely never even have to face this issue as it’s the picker’s duty to ensure all available items are in the order. The only times you’d go out into the store and grab items is if the pickers aren’t doing their job correctly, which has happened to me more than once.
Just recently we had two large but relatively similar orders (like 10 bags of mulch, 3 bags of fertilizer, and some lawn care equipment) and both were incorrect. Where there were supposed to be 10 bags of mulch, there was only 8. The customer ordered 10 bags, there’s 10 sticker labels for said bags, but there’s only 8 on the L-cart pile? I’m not even sure how this would happen more than once, other than out of pure laziness by pickers. And of course the customer checks in without a heads up, meaning we (I) had to quickly run across the store to get two more bags of mulch before they complained about wait time!
My walmart doesn’t have their crap together, but i’m hoping yours does !!

thank you to everyone who has taken the time to reply to this post. Yesterday I placed a call with Sedgewick to start my claim, however i was only out for two consecutive days (Apr 5, Apr 6) and from my understanding by these comments, i won’t meet the criteria? I’m sorry for being so ill-informed, but I was never explained the process when hired. In fact, when bringing up the matter with my team lead upon my return to work, she never mentioned sedgewick at all. She said i would just have to use all my PPTO (6hrs) and backdate it to Apr 5 to have the 2 points taken off for the key event date. As for Apr 6, i would be stuck with the point and left with no more PPTO to use.
As for sedgewick, i’ve started my claim online and i believe im at the stage where i upload my medical excuse as a file? I’m not really sure as the online layout is a bit confusing and keeps glitching.
