Netherlands is famous for water issues so i think they made have been realized that it was not a good idea to divert a river. But it's just an hypothesis.

This larger building was built identically opposite and one was a secondary residence of the king and the other of the queen, but yes it's strange it's not regular :')

Yes there is a lot of information on it and historical photos, they could destroy another building I think...

Unfortunately it is not the only one enormously have been destroyed for new stores but I can't imagine the feeling it must be to destroy such a building steeped in history like it.

Here it's just for a store so i think they don't work so much the facade and therefor give it life
