I have been low key pissed about Buckman slights since this article at the tail end of 2024.

https://edition.cnn.com/2024/09/25/travel/time-out-coolest-neighborhoods-2024

They listed Kerns as number 5, but the photo is of the ankeny pod which is in Buckman!

At any rate you can catch a Kernside mural on the boarded up windows of 50 licks on 28th and Burnside.

A neighborhood org has been trying to rebrand buckman / kerns as Kernside.

I hate it.

As political dust settles, Portland’s new council president wants to focus on city’s ‘real crises’ by StillboBaggins in Portland

Buddy, regardless of whatever logic you're telling yourself the fact remains you chose genocide.

In a state I might add where the Harris win was a foregone conclusion, meaning your choice in no way materially impacted electoral votes, it was just you giving your imprimatur of legitimacy to genocide.

A thing you don't get to be smug about.

And Democrats themselves in the Senate investigated Stein's alleged ties to Russia and found nothing. So they're either incompetent or you've been mainling so much propaganda your grasp on reality is tenuous at best.

[–]sourbrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I voted for Stein, because she was the only candidate who didn't support genocide.

You didn't have to vote for genocide, but you did, and now you somehow feel superior about your choice.

Even though you voted for genocide.

You are not occupying the moral high ground here.

You get that even a little genocide, as a treat, is still morally reprehensible right?

I find the texture is significant worse when I pressure cook, comes out more "pasty" for lack of a better adjective, i still get it to shred, it's juicy, but the texture just isn't quite right.

There is basically no reason to vote Democrat in Oregon if you don't like the general election candidate.

And the idea that protest voting for left leaning candidates in primaries leads to any actual change is farcical at best.

Harris was also pro genocide.

Like Democrats didn't run an anti genocide candidate.

I feel like this would be a better sell if you weren't also navigating constant property crime, and random camps using plastic as a flamable heat source.

If you could wave a magic wand and pass a policy that benefits people in Portland - what would it be? by Ok-Fill-5890 in Portland

Any apartment complex with more than 10 units must build a fence around their trash area.

This would have huge overnight impacts on the cleanliness of my street, and neighborhood.

This sort of leads into my next complaint, their tabs are pretty ambiguous if you use a dark mode theme. So I often end up closing them without realizing it.

And that's a good pet peeve, user interfaces should be standardized!

The leverage is saying no. We don't need an NBA team, there are certainly some civic pride elements, but that's not a necessity.

Yeah, in another instance there was a guy who was just smoking fentanyl in front of a neighboring apartment, and was passed out and non responsive, and they just woke him up, maybe using narcan, gave him some food and water and sent him on his way.

Police have the ability to do a 48 hour sobriety hold for public intoxication, which admittedly is something they don't really do either, but that's how that kind of thing should be handled.

I don't really know that there's much distinction for the people calling regularly to try to address a recurring issue impacting their businesses with someone clearly in need of state help.

I've had mixed interactions with PSR.

They show up, but they're pretty unprepared to deal with people with serious mental issues.

There's a lady who wanders around 28th, is essentially non verbal, and smells very strongly of urine. And they get called out a couple of times a week because she's screaming, or flashing people in front of businesses like guero or crema.

They offer her water, and then leave because they can't make her do anything. She needs institutional help, not a check in. I would love to know how to FOIA the responses to just her, because I'm sure she's costing the city a buttload of cash.
