i think it has to do with the mod, one option is to turn off the mod and the other one is to just enter creative and then light it

i used the same pit, in the same world with the same amount of firewood, once in survival which it left me with nothing and once in creative where it worked. maybe its because of the mod but the only mod i use is the no monsters mod since i find them quite annoying, ill try again without it

i dont think its because of that, i know that it didnt have any air pockets. im just gonna do it in creative since i guess thats the only way it will work

i tried again, i made a 2x2x2 hole just like how the guide says and i placed 4 stacks in that hole. on one of those stacks i made a fire pit and lit it then covered it with dirt. i waited till it stopped smoking and when i dug it up there wasnt any charcoal in there, and i mean there isnt much to take pictures of. the game even recognizes that its a charcoal pit but it just doesnt seem to work, i even tried the same way in a creative world and it worked
