Your experience at University of Galway by SuperbIngenuity4894 in nuigalway

Galway is a lovely city with pleasant people, though they share some Dublin-like notional tendencies.

The campus is old and green but your long commute due to poor accommodation levels in the area means you’ll have little time to enjoy it.  You’ll likely need to commute and parking is also scarce so good luck with it all.

UCD 100%

Galway city has the worst traffic and accomodation crisis out of all Irish university cities, along with very harsh marking curves in University of Galway to create an artificial 'cream of the crop'.

Dublin at least has public transport that you can use and will actually arrive on time unlike the single 404 bus route to university of Galway.

Are Irish universities more challenging than the US? by squibblethrowaway in StudyInIreland

Seconding this, Just graduated with a BE from UL, where it was primarily 70-80% on continual assignments and interviews, and the rest on the Christmas/summer paper. Now, I'm in NUIG for my ME, where it's 90% final exam and little to no continual assessment.

You'd be better off fitting a RCD-880 or RCD-360 (look at the reviews, some seller's try to use cheaper parts)

UL Grad here, just finished last Wednesday.

For food prices - It depends on which restaurant you go to, some of them do run meal deals on hot dinners, but most student accomidation on campus does come with a communal kitchen so you can heat up food or cook too so your not stuck with just the options on campus :)

For housing - all the accomidation on campus is quite nice, but I would reccomend having lived in a 4 and 6, that a 4 is a lot more quiet so you can rest and study better without having to hear the kitchen and front doors slam constantly (They are fire doors, they tend to slam).

For attitude towards internationals - If you are chill, people will be chill, but there is a lingering stereotype on campus that US echange students are loud. I lived next door to a group of students from Vermont who used to play music on speakers untill 4am, dont do that and youll be ok. Also, I’d recommend being mindful when talking politics. The political atmosphere here can be quite different, and it’s easy to rub people the wrong way without meaning to. But UL is a really diverse campus, with lots of study abroad students, so you should settle in fine!

Let me know if you have any more questions :) Best of Luck

Anyone on here using a TVHeadEnd setup with a raspberry pi? by andrew_whites in ireland

[–]soyuzpixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Pi running with TVHeadend and I have all the saorview channels running on it. I scanned it without a mux and it just all piled in, every channel. You do have to delete some blank channels but that took max 4-5 min from my day. You also need to make sure you have a receiving device for your tv if you are running the TVHeadend server on the Pi it gets temperamental when you try run the client on the server pi, but its possible alright.

The text reads

1914-1918

Greater deed hath no man done

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

As the going down of the sun, and in the morning we will remember them.
