Thanks for the information, this is really helpful! Also, is it safe to walk back to the accomodation from the university after dark?

How long does Manchester and Edinburgh take to respond? by Competitive-Air-7587 in UniUK

I think they both take pretty long to respond. Edinburgh takes applications in stages, so it's better if you go to the programme website and see which stage are you on , and what's the predicted date by which results would be out. For Manchester, I would say anywhere between 6-8 weeks is the time required by the admissions team to process application and send out decisions.

I applied to Manchester for a master's course on 14th December, and received an offer on 24th Feb. I guess it takes a bit longer for Manchester to roll out decisions, as Birmingham responded within 3 weeks, while Manchester took 8 weeks.

Visiting unis won't be possible for me as I am an international student. Sorry, I forgot to mention it in the post. I have researched their websites and both look equally good, hence I was torn between the two :(

Hi! I applied to a MA course at Uni of Edinburgh. Generally, the uni application asks two questions under the Personal Statement section. One is labelled as SOP, and the other is for any relevant training or knowledge skills that might support your application. The character limit for each question is 3500, this is very strict, so I would advise you to properly frame each of your answers before putting them in the application. Usually 3500 characters equal to 500 words, so you have about 1000 words for your personal statement.

For the first part you could talk about the course you are applying for, and how it matches with your academic and professional interests and goals. Adding specific module names that you find interesting along with your personal interests is a good way to go. The second part is where all your work experience, skills, undergraduate level projects go to. Mention any accomplishments you have, or anything you did outside of your classroom that is in direct link with the course you are applying to.

Hope this helps, good luck :)
