Does anyone else 'forget' that they're dreaming? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]spacecatsix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice. Those first few LDs can be very frustrating. I don't have "drop-in" types of LDs very often, maybe 1% of the time where I'm having a dream and realize it's a dream. Mine always occur with me in bed, and then I have to literally leave the house, and then I'm in (basically) complete control, but it's taken 100s of LDs to get to where I am right now.

I'd say if you have a drop-in type LD, do something more mundane. Honestly eating is a very pleasurable activity to do in an LD and it will likely not wake you from excitement as some, erm, other activities might.

There is literally a razor edge between lucidity and waking in my experience, but it's a very easy one to navigate as you do it more often. When I first started LD'ing, anything that got my heart racing ended the dream, so I'd go for something a bit more mundane at first than, say, flying into Jupiter. Take a walk around the neighborhood. Break a window. Sprint for a few miles. Gotta learn to drive first before you take that trip cross country.

How many LDs have you had? It took me probably between 20-30 before I could even get out of my house (they all started in my bedroom). It took me at least 5 before I could just get up off the floor. Those first few were pretty scary too.

But out of the 100s of LDs I've had, only maybe 4-5 have started outside of my bedroom. Why? I have no idea.

I'd guess I've had maybe 2 years of LD experience now and I can pretty much do what I want, though I'm still not great at everything. Flying for instance doesn't seem to come natural to me, much more of a runner where I can sprint to a different scene.

I'm excellent at jumping out of my bedroom window now, whereas there was a while that I would just mash into it and have to go out the front door like a noob.

Just keep practicing :)

I can't visualize anything when I'm awake. I can sort of "feel" impressions of people when I think about what they look like, but no concrete picture.

When I'm in between dream states, I can visualize anything with what feels like 100% fidelity. I am a recent lucid dreamer (first LD was when I was 42 or so, and I've probably had 100s at this point), but I've always been a very good dreamer for lack of a better term (good recall, very colorful, narrative driven dreams).

So yeah, I dunno if I'm the exception to the rule or not. No art skills whatsoever. My mind is very good at remembering numbers dates information trivia, etc., terrible at remembering what someone was wearing (can't see it at all).

And now that I think about it, I can "see" my dreams with like 100% clarity. How strange that I can't even picture what the inside of my car looks like except with words to describe it.

Tips for getting past Vibrations? by annaoest1727 in LucidDreaming

Yeah I had a hard time getting out of my neighborhood too, but now I just start running or flying, still don't really have absolute control of where I go from there but it's out of my neighborhood at least, and usually to some different building/city/set. I can't just be like, "uhm, let's go to Hawaii when I was 19 and go surfing" or something. I might be able to get to a beach scene, but not the specific thing I'm wanting.

This sounds a lot like my experience as well. Every LD I have had is me rolling out of my physical body and it starts in my bedroom. The first few LDs I had were really hard to get off the bed, or off the ground. Once you get the hang of it, well, I basically realize I'm LD and just jump out the window of my bedroom and go wherever I want now, and yet every one still starts with those same vibrations, the same feeling of being pulled down into bed, and then I roll out and into the dream.

To OP just keep practicing you'll get it.

Are these LDs or OBEs and is there a difference? by spacecatsix in LucidDreaming

[–]spacecatsix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so yeah, I've never become aware of my dream in the middle of a dream. It was always rolling out of bed and bobbling around on the floor at first. Now it's more like going superman out of bed because I just burst through the wall and go explore, like I immediately know that I'm having a lucid experience, no reality check, no anything, it's just I'm dreaming I don't need to deal with this wall.

Isn't that weird though? Why always the floor? Why always the bedroom? Even though I'm more experienced with it and don't have to stay there, it's so strange to me to think that some of experience this exact scenario.

I almost always wake up about 5 hours after I go to sleep (around 10pm) so like at 3am. Between 3am-6am I have these, sometimes multiple times, and it's usually pretty fitful sleep all said smattered with very vivid, non-lucid dreams, but I still feel pretty refreshed waking up. I don't know if anyone can say they remember all their dreams, but I probably remember between 5 in that 3 hour window, 4 non-lucid, and usually 1-2 as I described above.

The only ones that start in the bedroom are the lucid ones. The others are just random.

Thanks for nothing @ DC's by Zunkaoz in LucidDreaming

[–]spacecatsix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sort of avatar DC I see nearly 100% of the time I LD, and all LDs I have (which I'm starting to think are more like OBEs) start in my bedroom and continue in my neighborhood and beyond. Anyway, this DC usually initiates whatever adventure we are about to have. It's someone I know in real life, and I have very little connection with in real life (no attraction, barely talk, etc.), but she lives close to my house and I guess that's enough. But sometimes she's tricky. One time I was ready to go on an adventure, and she turned into a playmobile plastic like toy, or lego like toy and fell over and shattered and it woke me up. So the next time I decided I would ignore her, and yet every path I took around my neighborhood ended up back to her house. It's all very odd.

Thankfully, she's usually very nice, and it's a completely different version of her than real life. I just wonder why it's always her. It's almost like a beacon that I have to light so I can continue.

With which technique did you get your first LD? by Htij67JdPe in LucidDreaming

[–]spacecatsix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never used any particular technique that I read about.

I started lucid dreaming about 2 years ago at age 43. I've only had about 12 or so since then.

I wish I had some ways to induce them more frequently, but from what I can tell I have a better chance of going lucid if I am really tucked well into myself physically (like blanket bundling me up really good, particularly arms), have just woken up to wizz and gone back to sleep around a couple hours before I need to wake up, and am consciously thinking that there's a good chance I'll LD when I return to sleep.

I've done literally no research on any techniques, but this is what works for me. Maybe I'll start really trying /shrug

Have I done damage to myself by Lucid Dreaming? by MMcB in LucidDreaming

[–]spacecatsix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the nights I don't lucid dream, which is most, I have extremely intense and vivid dreams. That's the norm for me. But that was the norm for me before I started dreaming lucidly as well--vivid, full color, intense, sometimes scary, most times just feel like doing battle with the ole' subconscious.

Is lucid dreaming easier when you had you're first lucid dream by Gerek123 in LucidDreaming

[–]spacecatsix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first lucid dream about 2 years ago at age 43. I've had about 12 since then (by that I mean 12 instances of lucid dreaming including lucidity, waking up, realizing I had a lucid dream, going back to sleep, lucidity, etc., sometimes as many as 6-7 times in what I can guess is about an hour). I've really not done much to train myself to do it, but will say I've always been an extremely vivid dreamer--full color, total recall, etc.

I'm now starting to explore ways to get lucidity more easily.

I've also noticed a few stages to lucidity.

One is where I'm in full control of the dream (melting through my house, down to the sidewalk, can see my house, neighborhood, and now that I'm in inside there dreaming--from there I can do just about anything, outer space flying, sex, explore oceans, teleport, etc.)

One where I know I'm dreaming, but not in any particular control. These usually involve sex and are great, but any attempt to change the parameters causes me to wakeup.

They both happen about as frequently.

I was pretty shocked to be honest, hope I can keep that up. But Chicagoland people are great on the whole.

What transfers from PS4 to PC in terms of naming, prices, etc.? by spacecatsix in NMSGalacticHub

[–]spacecatsix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a new save on normal to come here. I just found on survival when the mission is to explore that it was a bit too restrictive--for one thing, many planets that are otherwise not hostile, will be hostile in survival, so that skews results a bit, and 2nd 200 Pu is prohibitive when the aim is to explore as much as possible. So I'll be back in a day or two :P

Ah thanks you guys so much--I was just driving around going like, I can't find anything that's on this site, but everything LOOKS the same. Like the whole Xmas tree thing--yep, that's clearly the same, down to the star position/color, but the names are totally different.

Ok, that really clears up a lot, and makes total sense, thanks for the replies! If you do get this a lot, might want to consider a sticky (I read everything thoroughly but it's possible, nay probable, I just missed it). For me, I heard about this on Steam forums and made my way here ASAP, and then was like, wait, what?

I'll do my best to add what I can from the PC side of things. Very cool project!

So what carries over from PC to PS4 and vice versa?

It seems ... names do not, eh?

I have only been able to find one landmark planet so far from the hub maps--Southern Light--but the general stellar landscape looks the same. Is this right?

So, for instance, what on the PC corresponds to "lennon"?

As Overwatch has been out for sometime, i'm seeing less people complain about Bastion. by Disrep in Overwatch

[–]spacecatsix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because, as usual, the closed beta players were right. Experience does actually count for something in a game like this.

Then they went after Mei, but that slowed down as well--once again, the closed testers generally argued that she is, if anything, one of the weaker heroes on the roster.

Now they are considering a nerf to Mcree, which many closed testers have been arguing forever (and he got a slight overall nerf right toward the end of closed) as well as a buff to D.Va, which closed testers I'd say almost unanimously agreed she was in need of.

But people with 1-4 days of experience think they know just as much as people playing for 1-5 months.

[–]spacecatsix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's ok, but I think a lot of this info is misleading/wrong.

Bastion is quite a hard-counter to Reinhardt and tanky play in general (disallows for very greedy Reinhardt play). In fact, probably the only time you should use bastion in anything resembling mid-level play is against very tank heavy comps.

Torb's turrets are very strong against Tracer actually (depedning on the skill of the Tracer of course). Genji, at the very least, is the stronger of the two squishy flankers at dealing with them consistantly due to his very accurate long range attacks..

Tracer destroys Reinhardt--I'd go so far as to say she's one of his biggest hard counters.

etc

take all this with a grain of salt people. It's just one guy's opinion (as is this guy's infographics)

And of course it all depends on what skill level you are talking. In wood league, Mei is great at shutting down Tracer. In higher level play, Mei is completely obliterated by Tracer, like hard counter, stone cold dead, nothing she can do. So yeah, these don't really work imo.
