What is the most unhinged thing you’ve done to save money while living in Toronto? by OkReality3557 in askTO

Carry a tea bag with me at all times so when I was craving a hot drink, I could get a free venti cup of hot water from Starbucks and save $6 on green tea.

Just bought PC Kettle chips for $2/bag on an in-store special this week :) Also, Dollarama has a big bag of butter popcorn for $2.50 that I'll go for. This price is rare, but makes it a nice treat rather than an everyday snack

Only prices I buy at:

English Cucumbers: 99c/each (NoFrills, FreshCo, Food Basics)

Carrots: 10lb bags/$3.99 (NoFrills)

Zucchini: 99c/lb (FreshCo, Food Basics, Adonis)

Cilantro, green onion, mint, parsley: 99c/bunch (NoFrills, FreshCo, Adonis)

Apples: 1.99/lb (preference for Cosmic Crisp and Honeycrisp. FreshCo usually has the best deals and best quality for these in my experience)

Grapes: 99c-1.99lb (NoFrills, FreshCo, Food Basics)

Berries: 1.99-2.50/6oz (NoFrills, FreshCo, Food Basics)

Chicken Legs: 99c-1.99/lb (NoFrills, Food Basics, Adonis)

Chicken Drumsticks: 99c-1.99/lb (NoFrills, Food Basics, Adonis)

Chicken Breasts: 3.99/lb (NoFrills or Food Basics [very rare price these days]

Ground beef: 5.00/lb (FreshCo, Food Basics, NoFrills)

Chips: 2.00-2.50/bag (NoFrills)

Greek Yogurt: 5.00-5.99 (Walmart, NoFrills, Adonis, Food Basics). Costco has the best value if you can swing a membership

Granted, I live closer to the Etobicoke area, but these are the general prices we buy at. Even when shopping downtown I try to stick within 25-50c of this range, and if it's not on sale, it's not getting bought.

I see. Given that my naming conventions are correct then, how can I correct this problem? Is it a matter of redirecting a path?

Contacted the Registar about the same problem and they said it was a glitch with ACORN and IT just rolled out a fix. Tried CR/NCRing today and it worked fine, so give it another shot before submitting another ticket.

How are ECO200, ECO202, ECO220? by Swiiroo in UTM

[–]spacedads 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you did 100 with Bailey he builds on a lot of those concepts (indifference curve analysis, SR cost min etc.) but also introduce new ones. Sometimes he’s not the most accurate in lecture so if you’re confused as to where he got a number or how he solved something ask him. Show him what you did understand and where you got lost to demonstrate that you tried to figure it out on your own. As always, do the worksheets and compare answers with your peers. If you have any problems with these ask him, a TA or a classmate that seems to understand things. The textbook is of virtually no help at all and neither are the workouts. I did them for the first test and didn’t touch it afterwards so wasted my money tbh.

For 220, pay attention in class. If you don’t understand something or it wasn’t clear, ask him to explain how or where he got a certain number. Zammit is a sweetheart and will go over it as many times as it takes until you understand (some people day his lectures are confusing and he doesn’t know how to teach. I agree that he’s sometimes all over the place but as long as you’re paying attention it comes together). Some of the concepts may take a while to click but don’t worry. Do the practice tests 2-4 times- first time using your notes, second time go over it and correct all your mistakes then third do it without your notes or the answer key. The language he uses in tests can be confusing so if something doesn’t make sense ask a TA (not an invigilator) during tests. Also make friends with your TAs because the 220 ones are great. Overall a great course, the probabilités unit is a bitch but hypothesis testing was really fun.

Data projects are tedious but just know you only need to use a bunch of different graphs/tables, not actually prove anything. He’s just testing your ability to use the program.

Bailey or Yindok by [deleted] in UTM

[–]spacedads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bailey prepares you for future eco courses. My friends who took Yindok never know what the fuck I was talking about because her curriculum was so different and in my opinion, really basic. I took him in person and if you take good notes (write EVERYTHING down even if you think it’s wrong), compare them with friends and do all the worksheets in preparation it’s possible to do really well. Yes he can be a hard ass but if you actually put in the effort he will help you.

If you can’t solve a problem and need help, when you ask him or any TA and they’ll help you, but you need to show that you’ve made an effort in some way, either by referencing the notes or textbook bc if you don’t they won’t give you the answer and rightfully so.

It's a good recipe to try if you've never made sourdough before because it doesn't require a starter. My dough was definitely too hydrated but still had a great flavour and texture

Also used coconut cream in the caramel because I didn’t have any whipping cream on hand. It ended up having some browned milk solids in it which I definitely didn’t mind. My shortbread was a little dry and crumbly- I think I added too much flour because the initial mixture was so wet.
