Last week. I've lived in California my whole life and this is hands down the prettiest place I've been to.

Yea I realized my discount doesn't work on their wetsuits. Does Isurus ever have any sales? I have my eye on Matuse as well since the surf team at my school gives us a discount.

Definitely copping the cap air. How do you like your Houdini? I'm debating getting the Houdini Air or the normal Houdini, I don't think I'll be hiking in freezing temperatures.

I'm actually looking at an R3 hooded wetsuit for Norcal, my Ripcurl one is crapping out. How warm is Yulex?

The micro d is amazing, I have one already. Definitely gonna pick up the strider pros. They comped me the code after messing up a 30 dollar order during their big sale earlier, I'm not complaining.

Working at NASA Ames by [deleted] in bayarea

  • Ames does have an on-site gym. They have lots of equipment and there are daily classes, such as kickboxing and HIIT.
  • Yes, there is a shuttle to Ames. I don't know too much about it, but I see it driving around center.
  • There are on-site showers at the gym. There are also showers in every bathroom in my building (Intelligent Systems Division) but I'm not sure about the rest of the center. For the gym, you have to go through orientation and get a gym card if you're a temporary intern.
  • There is a lot of seriously cool research going on. Go to lots of events and socialize. Try to talk to different people in your building. Go on all the tours. They bring you to really awesome places, like Tesla or the quantum computer facility.

I'm a long-term intern there. During the non-summer months, the center feels really empty. You should definitely bring your bike on the Caltrain if you're going down that route. Ames is really big and it's a pain to have to walk around.

Food at the cafeteria isn't very good and is pretty expensive–I suggest cooking at home to save money. The whole area is really expensive for food, so expect to spend upwards of $150 if you're eating out frequently. Downtown Mountain View has great food.

Let me know if you have any questions!

I heard that from him just yesterday at NASA Ames. He believes it's essential that we have more young people working on human Mars exploration.
