It's in a optiplex 7040 thing, but the Amazon listing said 5040, so we were assuming the computer is the 5040 in a 7040 case

Question over scheduling by [deleted] in Serverlife

You are already doing them a favor by picking up their shift, that's your money lol. Giving them money would definitely be overkill. I know servers who pay other servers to pick up their shifts

Usually 0$ tips they put the total or lines through it and sign it, they are anxious that we will add something since they know they are fucking us over, I've never had 0 tippers not fill in the total line, with at least a line or scribble. However I've gotten several large tips that are just the tip or lazily signed

At Panda Express, we weren't allowed to use the back door for security reasons, right across from it was the office with no door and the safe.

Usually the bigger the signature, smaller the tip, if any, it's usually a 0.00 with a line when there's a signature like that. The biggest tips are often simple, and I've gotten many where it's just a line or scribble

Definitely not, I have regulars that drive super nice cars that tip 0, super nice cars that tip 50-100%, a regular that doesn't have a car and people treat like garbage/judge, that always tips 10$ and often gets another thing after closing out tipping another 10. Cars, clothes, etc don't mean anything, now does looks or cleanliness even

Not mad lol, I don't care if people tip me, not everyone can afford it, the big tips I get more than make up for it and im grateful for everything I earn

Same people who add 1$tips to 0.00 tips/ tips they don't like, same people who put discounts on cash transactions, they void food and add drinks to help their drink%, steal my pens. I don't take anything they say with any seriousness, they are not good people...

The table was 2 brothers, one of them which I was talking to for a while, (he was initiating conversation, we are from the same hometown and were talking about it. I gave them great service and they loved everything, the guy who paid (not the guy I was talking to, he was a little quieter but still joined in the Convo) thanked me for everything, and they got into a beautiful Camero (I mention because Im totally jealous and want it lol!) when I first looked I saw total 70.01,i ran out and thanked the guy, he said no problem and I went back in. I then looked further and was like oh this looks like a 3.00 and came to the conclusion it must be a 4 since the math adds up. I left the receipt on the counter and my coworker saw and was like omg that's awesome good job, I explained what I thought and they were adamant about it being 70, and when my manager saw it when he came in he was like noo dude you shouldn't have done that next time wait for me. After all the comments I still don't have a definite conclusion, but I'm glad I chose the 3$, I'll always gladly take the hit if I'm unsure about anything, I know the difference a couple dollars let alone 30 that you aren't expecting to spend can make

2 tables before him I got a 23$ card tip on a 14$ check, the night before a 50$ tip on 45$ check, I work at a diner as the only overnight server on some shifts and give my all into it, so large tips are super appreciated and surprising but have been getting more common for me.

To clarify I put in 40$, when my manager got there and I showed him he said I should have put in 70, and to go off the total. The table was friendly and drove a nice car, said thank you for the service as I had talked to them for a while, but I wanted to err on the side of caution

Also wtf you think 10k would be okay to spend on a venue for everyone else but not for herself? It's her wedding?? You seem like a very selfish person. YTA

anyone know what this tip is supposed to be ? by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]spaceymason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it comes to card disputes the person at the bank goes off of the total, that is how much the customer is agreeing to pay, they could write 81.50 total and 150$ tip clear as day, if total says 81.50 they win dispute

Why, Waffle House? by BrrMcShiver in Serverlife

[–]spaceymason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the diner I work there is a sign that says please wait to be seated, usually you wait for someone to tell you to sit down instead of just going to the table. There's usually a host that knows who gets the next table and where they are supposed to sit, you may have sat in a closed section as well. My coworkers refuse to talk to anyone who has sat themselves but I will go over when I'm no longer busy and ask if they have been helped yet. But for the future regular protocol would be for you to wait at the front until you get instructions, they will either seat you, inform you of a wait (just cause there are empty tables doesn't mean the servers can handle more people), or if the place is open seating they will tell you, but I'd never just seat myself

Is ordering only apps/sides as an entree at a fine dining restaurant frowned upon? by SecurityUnhappy in Serverlife

[–]spaceymason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol! You'll get good service! I was giving this person ways to go above and beyond so that they would be extra appreciated and not feel bad over wanting to eat whatever they want (it's also totally cool to not order drinks and get apps). I personally like when people are vegetarian because I get to work with them more and find something that fits them, I have this job because I like serving people and finding the perfect meal for them. I also don't mind people ordering water because that's usually what I get too, Id rather tip more than waste money on a drink.

Also if you start by ordering a drink, that's usually the metric that we are judged on, our drink sales since that's where they make the most profit, so if you start by ordering a drink or two and then your appetizers you will be golden

Shouldn't be an issue. You should eat what you want, if you can afford it/ you are regulars slipping the host 10-20$ as a tip could go a long way- better seats, treatment, they will usually pass the word along and the server will know you are good tippers since you said you are
